Help with a new video topic!

I wanted to get your ideas for a video topic. I'd like to discuss the "biggest mistakes most newcomers make when getting into folding knives". I think this could be very beneficial for many of the new people in the community. I know some of the mistakes I made early on were things like putting WAY too much value into steel, or assuming thick/overbuilt knives were superior to everything, etc etc. What were some of the mistakes YOU made early on? What do you think are some of the biggest mistakes OTHER people make? I'd love to hear your thoughts! πβ

Try to get a knife that you are wanting to buy in hand before purchasing. Just because it is all over the internet and is the next big thing doesnβt mean that it will be a good and practical knife for YOU. I know that this is hard for a lot of people so I got a basic measurement of what is a great sized knife for me typically so if a knife is under or over that size I know. Donβt be afraid to buy cheaper knives to practice on. Take them apart, sharpen them, modify them. Then as you grow more confident you can work on your more expensive knives. Use the internet. Google, YouTube, BladeForums, etc. Chances are if you are having an issue with a knife someone else has had that problem before too.

I'd say 1. Start with 1 knife, learn how to to clean use and sharpen. So when you get to your higher quality down the road you know how to properly care for them. Messed up some great knives not knowing what I was doing. 2. Definitely know what's legal lol. Living on the border of a state with different laws was annoying to learn.
