🕑 Added 2016-05-04 04:04:17 +0000 UTC I really like Iori and how her attitude towards losing her son clashes so starkly with Duane's towards losing Mikaila (and Rahm's towards the same loss, though we haven't seen how he deals with it yet). Iori really clings to her faith in order to cope with hardship but in quite a different way from Duane. Granted, she's Gefendur and he's Ssaelit, but he's too eager to take suffering into himself as punishment while Iori sees it as a temporary roadblock on the way to inevitable transcendence.Someone had mentioned last update that it seemed a little weird how calmly she related this story. But it's because she's at peace with what happened. She doesn't fall into paroxysms of grief.
Like Sette, I think Iori lives in the best world.

Thanks so much for following along, Alexandra! I really love drawing all different types of people. It makes a world feel so much more real and alive. Cookie-cutter people are part of what keeps me from enjoying most popular entertainment (movies, most tv shows). Everyone is a beautiful actor with flawless hair, perfect features, and a contoured body. It kills my suspension of disbelief.

I want Iori to cook for me, damn. She's always got the most delicious looking food in her epic kitchen. Also, you mentioned Sette's determination to live in the best world -- that's an idea that has clung to me ever since I first read it. I love it and find it inspiring (even though she was using it as basically an excuse to be a liar all the time lol). And to see that similarity here in Iori is wonderful. People deal with death in many different ways. And Matty, ohmygosh, can I adopt him?? He's simply adorable.

Also I just wanted to comment on how much I love your versatility when it comes to drawing different looking people. A lot of artists, myself included, can draw approximately one kind of body/face/ethnic type well and fumble through anything outside our comfort zone, but I really appreciate how both the young, pretty characters and the older, bigger, or buffer characters are drawn equally well. You're a truly talented artist and writer, Ashley! Thanks so much for sharing your work with the world :)
