Panel 4 perfectly captures that appalling moment when you first realize a significant memory is.. gone. In our world it's age and decay, not a magic knife, that does it, and sometimes the memory turns out to be only mislaid, not erased. But it's the same feeling. Stepping off a cliff of mortality. And his reaction is spot on. It's not just that one memory, it's... what else is gone? Am I still me?
Poor Bastion. Things are dark indeed when the characters that once seemed invulnerable are so shaken!
