It's ugly, but anger's addictive. Even in good people, that moment of putting your foot on a momentarily weaker opponent's throat is a cathartic rush. If you could step outside yourself you'd probably hate what you saw, but regrets are a luxury for later, when you're in a calmer place.Dog-butt.

I've seen it in women my age (particularly at my last office), but I have actually seen it more frequently in the age group you describe. In that case I wonder if it was some kind of coping mechanism, a reaction to the way women were expected to behave or express emotions at the time? I suppose there might be a similar justification for Jivi.

sette needs backup. you'd think jivi would be a little less dickish considering the first thing she did when they met was wrap his shiv so he wouldn't cut himself.
I think these days a lot of adults never developed past Junior high. I see the mean girl thing the most in women about ten years older than I am: the ones who were in HS in the '70s. Not sure what's up with that, but it's something I see a lot and enjoy not at all.

My daughter :'( Kids are cruel. Adults can be cruel, too. Sette isn't a perfect character but at least she's *started* developing some slight inkling of self-awareness (at a level appropriate to what seems to be her mental age). Jivi doesn't seem to have learned a goddamed thing in the past however many chapters. Not that I don't get why he feels the way he does, but he could use an empathy infusion.
