🕑 Added 2025-02-04 09:16:07 +0000 UTCWhen I was a kid, I took a lot—like, a lot—of antibiotics because I would get tonsillitis almost every six months. On top of that, I had sinus infections, the flu, chickenpox… basically, my whole childhood was spent on antibiotics.
Then, when I was 17, I started getting abscesses. In just a month and a half, I had them 3-4 times, and each time, I had to take antibiotics. At one point, I was on them nonstop for a month. The last ones were so strong that when I got an injection in my thigh, my legs went numb.
After finally getting through the abscesses, the doctors held a consultation and decided I needed my tonsils removed immediately. Normally, this surgery takes about 15 minutes, but for me, it lasted over an hour because of the insane amount of scar tissue. After that, of course, I developed chronic bronchitis, which meant—yep, more antibiotics. Then I got COVID, and, you guessed it, more antibiotics.
Fast forward to now—I recently had pneumonia and had to take them again. And honestly, every time I do, I feel worse and worse. I know I shouldn’t be taking so many, but it’s like a vicious cycle. My immune system is wrecked, and my body is struggling.
So today, my morning started way too early with a doctor’s visit. They checked me out and, well… things aren’t looking great. They prescribed me some meds but warned me to do everything I can to avoid taking antibiotics again because my body just can’t handle them anymore. 😞

Thank God I had them removed because it was awful to be sick all the time. Now I still get sick often, but it’s much less than in my childhood 🥺

Yes, that’s exactly what the doctors told me today—that the situation after taking antibiotics is really bad this time, and recovery might take around 1.5 years. Yes, I did take probiotics and prebiotics, even while taking antibiotics, but it didn’t help. And as I understand, I need to buy special, stronger probiotics 🙈

With so much antibiotic, I'm certain your gut flora (the good bacteria) is a total mess! And that can drastically affect both your mood and your immune system :( Have you ever tried taking prebiotics and probiotics?

Yes i know the tonsillitis cycle well. I got it every 6 to 9 months as a teenager. They said next time it happens they take them out. Never happened again. No idea why. But yes they can be problematic if they act up a lot.🫂🫂🫂🫂❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏
