Notes on the upcoming update

I lost most of the end of December, including the holidays and early January, to influenza - not the cool, Stephen King 80's novel Chinese kind, but the lame American fuck you for the next few weeks and enjoy your blisteringly hot brain and vivid, soul-crushing hallucinations kind- and as a result I didn't have the time to release the smaller update I had planned to expand Sugar Brown's content. Sorry, guys.
But what have I been up to? Update .1
Update .1 is basically a lot of stuff I've been avoiding for a long time. It's a ton of core work that's heavy on the coding and leans significantly on my skills as a creative writer. Essentially, it implements the overall "story" of the game as well as the primary "work" gameplay loop that you'll be using to progress that story. You'll basically be asked to go through workplace scenarios and making decisions based on your stats and influenced by your relationships with other characters. It's sort of like an old DnD inspired DOS game with worse art. You've been given a seat on the Council, but you've not been granted the rank of Vice President. Oh, and it also adds "Deepthroat Training" which will allow you to further abuse and degrade the titular bitch.

Yeah. Look, I'll be honest with you guys, I've got a weakness for sloppy aggressive blowjobs. Not the boring slideshow kind where the game tells your you're being a real dick and then shows you the same boring scene over and over, but the sort where you get to influence the action a bit and feel like a dick because the character you're throatfucking is having a bad time. To accomplish that, I knew I'd have to create a complex system to facilitate progressive development of deepthroating skills and alter Pennyworth's interactions to reflect her internal conflict/trauma at having her body modified by the player. In this case, stretching her throat out so she can properly take your cock into her tight throat.

There are a lot of reasons. At the moment, I don't make enough money from this project for it to cover any of my monthly expenses. It's like a third job that pays really low wages. My wife is amazing, but at this rate it's unlikely that I'll ever convince her to think of this as anything other than a really time consuming hobby. I'm also working alone. I'm not complaining, mind you, after all there are a lot of advantages to working alone, speed just isn't one of them. Working solo means that I have to create all the art assets while learning how to art, handle all the writing, and simultaneously learn to code and write way more of it than ever thought I would. Frankly, it's tough to say which is the most time consuming since they all take up a ton of time. Again, I'm not complaining. Working alone means that I have complete control of the project; I don't have to pay for art assets, which allows me to add insignificant little things like Easter Eggs and lair customization elements; and it keeps me from torturing a coder with inane demands and overly complex ideas that go way, way beyond the scope of a game like this. As for the time it takes up, for the most part I've just replaced most of my hobbies with development things. So, like I said, I'm not complaining. Who wouldn't want to spend 11PM-2AM every night drawing dicks and writing bad jokes? I'm livin' the dream boys.
Well, when is the update going to release then?!
I hate to be one of those assholes that says things like "when it's ready" and "you can't rush art," because frankly, what I do is more like the cave scribbles of a horny cro-magnon, but I've given up on firm deadlines. Every single time I set one I overwork myself, run into unexpected bugs that take days/weeks to fix, I miss sleep, my wife gets annoyed with me, and I still miss the goddamned deadline. What I can say is that until the project is completely finished, I'm working on it. Not, "I'll take a few weeks off to play videogames and masturbate to futanari furry porn because I've earned it" working on it, but every fucking night I rise like the damn Cryptkeeper and creep through the cold, unfeeling darkness to hunch over my keyboard like a rat because I have to work, working on it. Like many creative types, I've got an obsessive personality. When I start a project, I genuinely can't bear to leave it unfinished. It just gnaws at me constantly.
Why don't you post more status updates at least?
There's not a whole lot to post, and I really don't want to be one of those attention whore hypebeasts posting inane bullshit and astroturfing my social media. Usually, I'll work through the basic design I want for the update in a few days. The art assets take me a few days to a few weeks depending on how involved/detailed they are. I do most of the actual, detailed writing while I code and that can take anywhere from a day to almost a month depending on what I'm trying to do. Every step of the process I'm constantly going back to tweak the overall design, adding new art assets, editing existing art assets, cutting dialogue, adding dialogue, breaking code, chasing bugs, reading obscure documentation on Ren'Py and Python, breaking more code, crying deeply, giving up all hope, becoming a coding god, realizing that I'm an idiot and doing everything the hard way, etc... It's a long, boring process. But mostly, I don't do more frequent status updates because in my heart of hearts I'm a Peter Molyneux. I get really excited about the things that we developers could be doing, make really big, impossible plans, and then fail to fully realize said plans. It's a cruel vicious cycle that you're better off not bearing witness to. Trust me, it'll just piss you off.
Also, please, stop messaging me asking for bara content. It's too niche for the amount of work required. Besides, Zack Slamm is more than a hot piece of ass. You know who you are and you should feel ashamed.

Hi Always nice to know that the project is moving forward and I think that's the most important thing, no matter how fast it goes, long or short. Take care of your health, it's very important, for you and your family, it's just a game, I think we all wish it was moving faster, that's for sure, but patience creates envy and envy creates fun. There are tons of game, one life wouldn't be enough to play it all, so we can wait. It's only my personal opinion, I don't have a wide enough vision on the game, "You've been given a seat on the Council, but you've not been granted the rank of Vice President" I hope that this is done gradually, because getting to an important position so quickly seems too hasty, the pictures seem to indicate this, with office 1, 2 and 3. but the sentence is confusing... I expect a lot from deepthroat, you seem to have taken care of it and I'm really looking forward to testing it. But you have to keep time for yourself, which allows you to get out of the game, even if it turns into an obsession, it could be counterproductive, you need a breath of fresh air, change perspective, it seems silly, but it has to be part of a work logic, like setting realistic goals, it only remains goals, a kind of motivation, not a deadline, because the workload is so huge, often have underestimated the magnitude of the task, which often multiplies by 10, even for trivial things. The design of the new characters is nice, it looks like Boris is straight out of RED Heat ^^ I almost regret having to leave our lair and move into these beautiful offices... Courage, one step at a time, things are moving forward.

I've been approached by artists at varying points in the development of the game. I'll answer this more fully in a proper post, but I have no problem with anyone making any alteration to the game files that they want, including replacing art assets. It's why I never encrypt the game releases. Adding new art assets is drag and drop. Any artist who wants to create new art for the game has my full permission to do so.

I find the writing absolutely hilarious. Since you feel that's your strength and the art the most time-consuming part of the process, have you thought about partnering with an artist? I know alx, an artist I follow on patreon does work for games and there should be others, and while I certainly don't know the economics involved, there's a possibility some might be willing to do it for free just to be part of the project. This is not the typical fap fare, it's a genuinely funny game and a loving tribute to the 80s so I'd think some fledgling artists would jump at the chance.
