🕑 Added 2025-06-05 22:42:58 +0000 UTCThis episode actually left me reeling a bit. Just when I thought I had a sense of who was trustworthy and what side everyone was on, another wrench got thrown in. The return of Ellen was disorienting in the best and worst ways. She is flirtatious, manipulative, and unsettlingly calm through all of the chaos. I'm deeply suspicious of her. Is she a Cylon? A pawn? Or just an absolute wildcard that thrives on drama? She could be any of those, honestly.
And then Adama. Who is usually my rock to look to for reason. But even I was questioning his motives and whereabouts for a good portion of this episode. Then to see that he is also caught off guard here. The tension between him and Tigh felt personal and cold. They've been down this Ellen Road before and it didn't end well.
I found myself questioning everyone's motives by the end of this. Even Baltar's test results. Can he even trust himself anymore??
This episode flipped everything upside down. It feels like it's no longer about finding the Cylons hidden amongst the fleet. Now it's about realizing that even those you think you know so well up and down, might be hiding something. I don't know who to believe anymore. And I love it.

Omg I'm totally with you on this one. I was super disgusted with Ellen and her manipulative behavior 👀🔥 I actually found myself HOPING that the Cylon test would come back positive so there was a reason to throw her out of the airlock.. but Gaius, crazy crazy Gaius, is determined to keep things interesting lol

A character like Ellen Tigh just makes me want to turn the series off! I am so bothered by someone who deliberately abuses and manipulates people that I would rather the character not be introduced at all. I mean, Lwaxana Troi, for example, was extremely annoying, but even she wasn't malevolently abusive as Ellen Tigh appears to be. 🤮

I love how insightfully you absorb these episodes. I've watched the series many times and also saw it on air when it was first released. It was a huge topic in my friend group back then — trying to figure out who was a Cylon. But I really appreciate how you spot details and connections I didn’t catch the first time around.

Interesting, not agreed upon or warned about or consented to sexual assault while a film crew is there to get "the genuine reaction". That is pretty bad practice, and im sorry to hear it.

Your title says it’s episode 8 just to let you know. Trivia: So during the dinner scene Jamie Bamber’s (Apollo’s) reaction to Ellen sliding her foot against him under the table was a genuine reaction. He was not told beforehand Kate Vernon (Ellen) would do that. Because I’m Italian and understand it the a few of the lyrics for the song Battlestar Operatica are… “Your Cylon heart is cursed” and “Your girlfriend is a toaster”. (The second one always makes me chuckle). Idk if you’ve noticed but in this culture/universe all papers and documents have clipped corners, thus, eight sides or edges. Oddly, the photo of Ellen that Saul crumples in his quarters is rectangular, with no clipped corners. The survivor count remains the same as it has the previous few eps at 47,954.

May we take a moment to acknowledge that Pixel awakened right at your outro and used the entire time to bathe. Starting at 43:57 I just got distracted thinking, "Holy crap, that kitty is going to town with kitty-baths!" I had to watch the outro again because my cats were distracted..
