🕑 Added 2025-08-07 13:00:12 +0000 UTCThese episodes were HEAVY. In the best and most thought-provoking ways. The tension between Admiral Cain and Commander Adama had me holding my breath. Both were willing to kill the other in the name of duty. But their final choice, those quiet moments of restraint, felt even more impactful than any battle. I keep thinking about how Adama has held onto his humanity, even when everything around him said to let it go.
But what really amazed me about these episodes were all of the biblical ties. Six's suffering, silence, and then her eventual act of vengeance felt like something straight out of the darker pages of scripture. Baltar, in all of his flaws and desperation, becomes a twisted version of Chris offering mercy to the shamed and broken. Their dynamic definitely mirrored Christ and Mary Magdalene, but it's so distorted in guilt and the raw need to be seen. I'm still trying to process Gaius' pyramid game talk. But right now, I'm leaning more toward it being a way to more deeply connect with Six in a way that said: I see you. You still matter. But I still don't understand why Head Six got upset at this gesture...
And then there's Lee and Kara. Both quietly unraveling under the weight of this war. Lee's moment of silence as he decides to drift away into nothing was so heartbreaking to see. I felt like I was witnessing his own spiritual death. His slow slip into something darker, deeper, and colder. And Kara, torn between two commanders and carrying orders she never asked for. Her eulogy to Cain surprised me and, honestly, hurt me. They weren't just for Cain, but also for herself. For the soldier she has turned into. The parts of her soul that she has lost along the way.
These two episodes left me with heavy questions. About power. About Redemption. About the quiet, painful cost of surviving. I can't wait to see what the second half of Season 2 brings us next!

Lee floating alone out in space: "Well, here I am." The imagery of him floating alone in the lake really reminded me of Ender's Game (spoilers, I guess?) after Ender breaks from the stress of everything and spends time... well, floating alone in a lake :p It's probably a coincidence but part of me does wonder if there was some deliberate nod there. I think it's a similar causality with Lee; just someone who is tired of fighting and wanted out for a moment. I was very happy to hear the conversation between Adama and Sharon about WHY the Cylons attacked, but I wanted so much more of it. I still have so many unanswered questions about pretty much everything, and I'm starting to worry that things will never be truly clarified. I REALLY want to know more about the true nature of Cylon consciousness, and how being "reborn" after death really works. Sad to see Cain get written off already, but I suppose it was inevitable, with how fiercely she was already clashing with Adama - it was clear they would not be able to coexist for long under these circumstances. Michelle Forbes turned in a really great performance here. I knew her from her role in 24, but I felt like she didn't really get the chance to show off her acting chops in that show, so it was nice to see more of what she was capable of here. She had a lot of presence and made a big impact in her short time on the show. But hey, maybe they'll pull a crazy twist and bring her back somehow (if she was secretly a Cylon, that could easily happen, after all...).

This whole three-part saga not only has been some of my favorite BSG that we've seen so far, but it's also some of the best TV in general that I've watched in a while. Everything from a season and a half of character and world building lead to this point. And all the writing, music, and acting was just phenomenal On Cain, I can't ever forgive her for her sins. But I try to put myself in her head to understand. Commanding a battleship in the military, in a constant state of war after the attack, she only knew one thing. Everything was black or white, do whatever it takes to survive. Every horrible act was to assure the survival of her ship. And that continued after the Pegasus joined the fleet. But you hit the nail exactly. Observing Adama, reading his logs, seeing how fiercely he cared about his crew, showed her that there was another way. That survival didn't have to mean destroying everything else around you. And like you said, it makes me reflect on the impact Roslin has had on Adama. That thinking back to mini-series Adama at the beginning, he was ready to full send into battle after the initial attack without second thought. To potentially sacrifice everything to fulfil his duty as the commander of a battlestar Also really appreciate you highlighting all the religious parallels! Something that I'm not well versed enough in to be able to see on my own. So hearing how you all put it together, just gave me even more appreciation for how deep and well written this show is!
