Oh sweet! Yeah I'm not totally sure it's the CPU yet, but so far it's my best guess. And also definitely glad it's just commodity parts.

I was just going back and re-watching your videos and then I saw the notification pop up for this video, perfect timing! I too just got a SunPCi iii and solaris 9 complete software box off of ebay that I'm going to get going in my v240. This video is the motivation I needed to get it going to see if my SunPCi works. Unfortunate that your cpu was fried just like you predicted in the first video when you mentioned thermal pads, especially with it being new in box! I got a used one but will definitely check that before booting. Glad the cpu is at least replaceable and isn't soldered to the board.
