Aside: someone pointed at a WRT-54G in a recycle bin a couple of weeks back and said "Ha! Know anyone who would want that?" I laughed and said "Yes, actually." (but it was in bad shape and not a 'special' unit, so I left it there)

Looks like the Cisco Nexus 2248PQ is one of the models that has an HDMI port used for console/maintenance use. Also, the Dell PowerConnect 5500 series is the switch model that I was thinking about. There are two ports on the right that are used for stacking.

I had a number of Cisco switches in production that used that stacking GBIC and I can absolute attest to how finicky and fiddly they were. Was glad when we replaced them with HP ProCurve switches and just trunked some Gigabit ports together (10 GbE was still a bit down the road at that time).

Cisco has used an HDMI connector for some of their switches to provide console and other management connectivity. Dell used HDMI connectors (I don't know what the pinout is though) on a handful of their PowerConnect switches as well for stacking.

Knowing what I and everyone else knows about Cisco, probably not standard. But neat...I had no idea they used that.

It's definitely the fireware connector! Unfortunately I have no idea if a regular ol' fireware cable works because I only have some Cisco-branded ones haha

1394a (*6-pin FireWire) connectors on enterprise gear whaaaaat? Not really a fun design, that port. Always a little loose, and prone to accepting just enough of the pins on a wrong-way-around cable to fry FireWire controllers in the host or target device. :E So many logic boards with fried FireWire chips at my old job... [/old Mac fart rant]

Those stacking GBICs used the "FireWire" cable, but it was their own proprietary protocol (As far as I can remember anyways). Nice reuse of the cables though!
