Blast from the Past: The Girls
🕑 Added 2015-05-08 05:48:21 +0000 UTC Hello again! Another week gone, another update post. Meet "The Girls" from one of my earlier game attempts. Aside from Aylia's Story, this game got the furthest along, and if it was not for my getting a new job, I may have even got it to a point where I would have finished it. Alas, it was not meant to be--at least at that point. I really may pick it back up someday. Anyways, the game was built in RenPy and was meant to be a True Love style simulator game. You took the role of a guy named Zak, and would schedule his daily routine. Zak had three primary attributes (strength, intelligence, and charisma) and based on these attributes, you would get different options when events occurred. For example, if Zak's intelligence was high enough, during one event he could convince one of the girls to go topless for a charity car wash, but if it wasn't, that option was not even available. The game was meant to last two months, and have 5-6 potential women to pursue. I have a demo of the game, but I need to find a copy of RenPy old enough that it will run. I might fiddle around with it a bit later this week and see if I can get it working. If I do, I'll upload the game so you guys can give it a try! Now, in regards to the game you all are here for. Aylia's Story is crawling along. I've been working on getting all the little things done that I had neglected for so long. Things like Triste's sprite, Dirk's faceset, Doan's face, item graphics, etc. If you recall, next week I am starting to work part-time. My aim is to have all these little things done and the system components finished, so I can go full steam ahead on implementing the quests and event CGs (yay!). My next update should be exciting, because it will be next Friday after I've had a chance to see just how much I can accomplish when I have a few days set aside to work. Then, I'll start dreamin' about what it would be like to work a 5 day work week on just my games! Woohoo! As always, thanks for the support and for the comments! I really, really love feedback and you guys have been such a motivating factor in this process. Whenever I get down or overwhelmed, I come here or go to one of the Aylia's Story forum posts and reread the comments. Within minutes I am energized and excited to go again. So, keep being awesome!

Believe it or not, Aylia's Story now has custom music. The title song and Zalran's theme are now custom, and I love 'em :-). I do not have plans for V.O.s though, there is a shitload of dialogue, and most voice overs I've seen come across as a bit cheesy.

Good luck on going part time with Aylia's story! You will reach the 4k and surpass it once the first chapter comes out of that I am certain, now the only question is once you reach a certain level of income are you going to start doing V.O. custom music and such for your games? It's something to think about perhaps :D

With text skip and sprint, the prologue really only takes about 15-20 minutes, and that is only due to the battles. So, not really sure if it will be that time consuming. Plus, the dialogue has been changed in places and is significantly edited. Not sure if it is worth a full re-read, but I would think it might be interesting to some. I'm actually trying to set things up so that saves will be compatible. There is a chance they won't be compatible with the chapter 2 release, but I'm hoping that won't be the case. There will not be any skip chapter options, as numerous decision points in each chapter influence things going forward. Plus, there are multiple paths through each chapter, so if you're replaying, you can take a different one. In reality, the ideal way to play the game would be to try out chapter 1 and then wait until the full thing is released. Granted, that can be tough to do :-). I doubt I would be able to wait. I'm setting the game up though with replayability in mind, plus I'm working to avoid or severely limit the amount of grinding. My hope is that by doing so, replaying is less of a chore and more fun.

I am wonder that will the chapter 1 demo will allow us to skip the 'Prologue' or we have to redo it? (not like I would mind redo it, but If I have to redo it every time new chapter arrive it would be time consuming. Especially if old save is not so 'compatible' due to some update).

All three were based on some pictures I found online at the time. Each has my own spin on it, but I definitely needed more help back then. I've advanced a ton art wise since then. And yes, she is quite cute.

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll check it out. The original inspiration was True Love, but also the Newgrounds dating sims. I remember thinking, man, these dating sims could be so much more fun. I'll try to make a game... then I found out how hard that really was.

Well, the demo was only the first two days, and was not a whole lot really. I'd release it more for the fun of it than anything else. It has no sex scenes or nudity whatsoever, just character introductions and a couple scenes. It is a poor man's version of the Aylia's Story prologue. In Aylia's Story, I purposely wanted to inject a few ecchi-type scenes in the prologue, as my goal is to provide a story-based H-game, but I know that when playing an H-game, no one wants to spend hours without seeing any nudity. So, this way, you get a few titillating scenes as you get the story's foundation. A win-win in my book :-)
Hooray for getting the little details fleshed out! That attention to detail pays off. The $4000 approaches! I'm not usually a fan of the "daily schedule" type games, but based on the art, I'd give that a try.

That old game sounds interesting and I hope you will get it working. In the same style, I found a game called NewLife a few days ago.
