You may perhaps see where Bogwort’s personality comes from! Honestly, I’m not really sure why she puts up with my shenanigans…
*Flips open the book, clears his throat and does his best Morgan Freeman commercial voice*
Sit down young whippersnappers and let me tell you the story of a bold man who risked life and limb to pursue the noble dream of drawing naked boobies. It all began on a dark, dreary autumn day… ahem, okay, it wasn’t that dark or dreary, but it sets the mood damn it!
Anyways, it WAS an autumn day and based on the positive reception the super early prologue received, I decided I would try a Patreon campaign. In doing so, I realized I would probably have to tell my wife why I might eventually quit my job. I concluded that at some point, she would question where the money was coming from.
Setting the scene: Picture a tall, scrawny white man entering the living room where a young, spry supermodel is lounging on the coach watching TV... What!?! This is my story damn it, and if I want to be married to a supermodel, I’m damn well going to be married to a supermodel!
YT: So… whatcha doin’?
In hindsight, this was a dumb ass question. She was obviously watching TV.
Supermodel: Just watching TV. What’s up?
YT: Well… I wanted to run something by you.
She sits up and mutes the TV.
YT: I’ve been messing around making a game for a while now.
SM (already tired of writing “supermodel”): Oh?
YT: Yea, I even released a little of the game to a few people on the Internet and they really liked it.
Now she is really paying attention, as she knows that almost everything creative I’ve done in the past, I think is shit. So, to release anything for public consumption is surprising.
SM: Awesome.
YT: The thing is, I actually think this might have some potential to garner support.
SM: What do you mean?
YT: Well, there is this thing called Patreon and…
Okay, you all know what Patreon is by now, so just imagine me explaining it and you’ll get the gist.
SM: Wow, that’d be really cool.
YT: There’s… one other thing…
SM: Hm?
YT: I’m making an adult game…
At this point she rolls her eyes. I won’t lie, I’m a perverted bastard, and so finding out that I’m making a sex game is not overly surprising to her. But, she is also NOT a perverted bastard…
SM: Really…
YT: I know, but listen! There are some really active communities surrounding these games, and I actually think this is something that could really get people excited.
SM: Uh-huh… and how do you know about these “communities?”
WARNING, WARNING, DANGER!
YT (White Lie #1): I, uh, recently stumbled upon them as I was learning the game making software… The program I’m using is pretty popular for making these kinds of games.
SM: Mmmhmm, and what exactly are these kind of games?
YT: Here’s the thing, it’s not as bad as you think. I’m even planning on making a game with a strong female main character.
SM: Oh?
You see that? Appeal to those feminist sensibilities… even though she is not really a hardcore feminist or anything. Got to pitch it right!
YT: Yea, it will be about a female elf who struggles to find redemption for the mistakes of her ancestors. (White lie #2 incoming) When I say “adult,” I mean it will have a few boob flashes and some sexy scenes throughout.
SM: I don’t know…
YT: I really think this has the potential to take off, but I’m planning on taking it slow. I’m going to release the introduction in a month or two and see what more people think. I’d only go all out if the support was there.
SM: Okay, but how stable would that be? I know you, and I know that you tend to… be overly optimistic about these things.
YT: I know, but with Patreon, people can pledge towards this to show support. I wouldn’t risk anything until I was sure that the support was there. Then, it’d just be a matter of releasing game content on a regular basis.
And by “regular,” I did not mean once every 9 months :-)
SM: I don’t… I wouldn’t want you to tell anyone.
YT: That’s fine, it may not even work out anyways.
Of course, I told two of my friends the next day… oops!
SM: Are you sure about this?
YT: Honestly, I’ve been messing with this game for about 6 months now, and it is the most fun I’ve ever had.
SM: I’m not sure I’d want to play it…
WARNING, WARNING, DANGER!
YT: That’s okay, I don’t think you’d really like it anyways.
At this point, I’m sweating bullets. The thought of her playing the game is scarier than that damn Poltergeist Clown!
SM: (After what seems like an eternity) Okay.
*Flips the book closed*

Haha, hope you didn’t mind my corny little story too much. Really, I’m probably a dumbass for putting it online, but I don’t think it will get me into too much trouble… (there’s that stupid optimism again).
Anyways, as you might have guessed, I’m feeling better. And, my mother-in-law is back on a plane! Hmm, perhaps that is not a coincidence… Thought I’d make this post a little more light-hearted. Yes, yes, I know the book art is terrible, but I didn’t really want to waste THAT much time on the post. I do have lots of stuff to get done after all!

@PhatsmM Good suggestion. Now Yummy do the Bogwort mankini thing lol. What's not to enjoy? Glorious beer gut and flabby man boobs, all in one "sexy" little goblin package =P Though the Borat-green mankini, may not go so well with his skin color. I Think red or blue would suit him far better. I am sure he would agree and that he would be both willing and very proud of posing for such a picture (if you make sure Aylia gets a copy of them ofcourse). It will truly be our own fault, if we fall victim to the temptation of clicking that link =D That said, It would be rather funny to see that picture as a joke... it might just be me though....

Don't expect that post any time soon. If I never tell my mother-in-law, I'd be okay with that. Also, she is just a humbled as I am by the amazing support I've received. I may get a bit defensive on forums or a bit overly sensitive at times, but never doubt that I am so grateful for all you guys!

Agreed. If this was to just remain a hobby, I might have kept it a secret, but I can't go full time and not tell her. Also, looking at how much work has went into setting Aylia's Story up, had I just kept this a simple hobby, we'd probably be looking at a 2017 release ;)

#3, surprise us! I'm fortunate to have a girlfriend who seems like she would be open to most ideas, but she doesn't understand the concept of people finding drawn characters attractive. If that was her only problem I'm sure it wouldn't be too tough to overcome! I don't really know how I would explain the forums I've frequented for a couple years though... If you rewrite the supermodel part to say "because that's what she actually looks like to me" I think it would be great for your wife to stumble across it!

Still a better story than Twilight. And I choose gate number 3. I love surprises, and I have to wait anyway, so I don't mind waiting a bit more to see the outfits "in action" instead of getting the preview right now.
