Signs of Life and an Update

I apologize for the lack of posts/comments, I've been extremely busy. I didn't want to post a short update, but as time crept by and I didn't have to time post my second primer, I realized I needed to give you guys some kind of an update.
First, I'll release an update on December 28th. It won't be the full chapter, and yes, I'm aware that it's been like 3 months of polishing/editing/finalizing. No, I don't think that will be the norm. I've said in the past, and I hope you can bear with me a bit longer, but I believe the chapter 2 development will be a much better measuring stick going forward.
The reason for my inactivity was that I was offered an opportunity to lead an installation before I left my job. I would be paid overtime and triple time this week, which was far too lucrative to pass up. This set up quite well (yes, something actually aligned well for once). I gave my boss notice at the beginning of the month that I would be leaving in early January. I'm going to give this Patreon thing a full time swing in 2017 and see if I can't crank out content at a reasonable click. I'd ideally love to finish the entire game in 2017. Of course, I didn't tell him I was going into porn dev, but that's a different story... Anyways, believe it or not, I'm pretty good at my job, I hit deadlines and everything! I know, hard to believe (I think the big issue with Aylia's Story is it has always remained a "hobby" for me). He asked me to take on this project, told me he' compensate me well for doing 2-3 months worth of work in 4 weeks, and I saw dollar signs. So, two weeks of 12-14 hour days later, here I am posting on Patreon.
This is actually a pretty sweet deal for me, as I get a very nice little nest egg setup to try development full time--something I've been a bit leery to do. I told you all I'd release something, and it is high time I did. So, you will get something new to play on the 28th. I'll be working 5 days a week starting the second week in January, and will see where that takes us going forward. The damn turtle has two feet on the next stone, so I've got maybe 15% of the chapter to finalize.

Personally I am going to be at work 10 hours, so I won't have to bear the waiting of any release. However my only next day off is Sunday the first, which means I will get to play it then. Woe is me, Aylia better heal my wounds and suffering.
I feel like I'm going to log in every 20 or 30 minutes tomorrow just to see if the game is uploaded...

Yummy, this actually may be good. You will release the "chunk", then we will play, get hyped and then some days later you will release the rest... I guess it's fine like that.
A good advice is having it ready (the chunk) by the 27th and prepare the info post about it as well. That way you won't be hassling to get things done by the 28th when you release it. Working on something right before releasing is never a good practice, and I say that out of experience. I see a lot of devs and artists get burned by just that, so it could be a good thing to keep in mind.

I think it might depend on how long I've made you suffer. If you only recently started pledging, I'm sure it is not so bad. For those named Thswherizat who've been with me for nearly 2 years, he's probably ready to hunt me down and lock me in my office until it is finished :-)

No, nothing ethically wrong, although I do feel a bit terrible with how long all this has taken. I've definitely had my share of procrastination and playing games when I should be working that contributed to a huge portion of the delays (especially before I went part time in May). I definitely underestimated how much work would be involved and how often I would simply set the game aside and play games when I was truly doing this as a hobby. Since May, I've had about 2 days a week to work and that helped immensely. Still, I can't say I didn't sluff off more than once on those days too! I've had my fun though, it was a nice last few months, it's time to rock this out full time and see where I can push YTGaming.

Yes, it'll be a chunk of the game. I feel the need to give you guys something new to play and experience. Just so you know that I really am working on something. As I said above, I've already submitted my notice, I WILL be going full time in January. Assuming nothing terrible happens, the full chapter should be released in January. Saves should also transfer, so you can move right into the new stuff if you choose to give the 28th release a try.

Do what ya gotta do but just to be clear on the 28th we wont be getting chapter one, just a chunk.. That being said, when Will we get the finalized chapter 1 just curious.

Well, the big benefit of your pledge system (updates instead of calendar months) is that there isn't really any ethical problem with something like this. Bummer for those of us eager to see more content, of course, but I can't imagine anyone would reasonably be expected to turn out a nice windfall like that.
