February Update

YummyTiger Gaming

Point taken, I'll start posting more regularly. Thank you.

I cannot agree with the above reply enough. A small update post every two weeks or so would be great, and even if it's only filled with 'Hey guys, my eldest is starting to get the hang of potty training', it lets us know that you're still here, which helps to add a little confidence. Not to mention, once you DO get back into the groove of working on the game, you've already set up a nice habit of making scheduled update posts. Sure, there will be people wanting to see some game progress, that cannot be avoided, but the main thing is that this page needs to get some momentum going again. Even if it is unrelated chatting in the comment sections.

This is exactly the kind of stuff you SHOULD be posting. Updates for the game are what we are all waiting for but if they're not ready, the best thing you could be doing is keeping everyone up te date with the problems you encountered and such. I'm guessing that as an adult content dreator you are familiar with Akabur. If not, he has some of the best quality adult games out there. A few months ago he starting posting every monday, even if he doesn't have anything to say. Thst works absolute wonders. Just check out his Patreon page to see what I mean, people are a lot more forgiving with waiting times if they're not kept in the dark about what's going on. Replies like this should be your main posts; it explains a lot about why this update is taking such a long time and gives people hope that they aren't waiting for nothing. That being said, I wish you luvk with both the game development and raising your two kids, I'll be waiting patiently!

YummyTiger Gaming

Thank you for your comment. I don't fully understand it either, as I've never really experienced anything quite like it. I could chalk it up to just being lazy, but that doesn't really fully explain everything because ironically (if that's the correct use of irony), I'm working harder now that at any point in my life, my time and effort just seem to be going every which way. Shortest version, I had my first 2 kids, they ate up a shitload of my time, and I didn't want to sacrifice the sliver of time I managed to acquire between a full time job and raising kids to work. Then I went full time work from home game dev, but that also meant figuring out how to maintain discipline at home, taking on all extra responsibilities with the kids (getting sick, nanny issues, etc.), and everything that went with moving to an old house. Finally, combined with the massive size of the project that Aylia's Story became, I ended up floundering more often than not, especially given my piss poor planning from the onset (word, excel docs, etc.). The money was never the driving impetus, if I just wanted to make money, I wouldn't have left my last job. It paid quite well. In that past year, I've moved completely to Articy for planning, I've built up a team of commissions, I've revamped and reorganized the game (variables, switches) to be better prepared for the onslaught of branching options, and I've made a bunch of mistakes in that too. I'm not planning on stopping, but I don't have anything worth reporting yet. No more false promises, no more letdowns (beyond the game not being released at this point).

Honestly, I don't know what to say. You literally said there would be an update before the end of march. We're almost at the end of may. You posted something behind a paywall on april 4. No news since then. I can't believe it has gone that way, so much time for that. And people still believe in you and your game. Like, I don't even want to sound mean or to be mean, but I just don't understand you. You literally have almost 8k dollars waiting for each update. Even if you were doing an update every 2 months you would still be earning more money than 90 % of the people living on this planet. You have a lot of people ready to support you, interested in your work, even when you've shown so little. What are you doing ? What are you waiting ? Even with heavy life problems it shouldn't be like that. At least talk. Is it over ? Are you done ? Will you delete this page ? Can we hear from you ?

YummyTiger Gaming

Wait, are you saying you played my demo when you were 16 or 17!?! This game was intended for 18+. There are boobies, you know... Jokes aside, thank you for the comment. I really appreciate it, and I have not given up. You'll hear from me soon, but regardless of where this goes, I'm not planning on dropping the game.

YummyTiger Gaming

I'll try and be a hermit who never leaves the hous... shit, I'm already doing that... :P

Grijzevos

I like your game so far but the progress, well... Just dont die before you finish it ok?

Hey Yummy! :D I will admit i have lurked in the shadows following this game for what seems like 2-3 years, I was about 16 or 17, currently 19. When i came across you i was overcome with joy since people don't really find a diamond game like yours very often ^_^. I have just now made a patreon account after seeing you post that you might get rid of this or stop working on it, i made this account to ask you to keep going, please, i admire and appreciate all the work you have put in and all the work you will put in and i ask that you keep your head held high and don't give up on the development of the game! Just like i haven't given up on you! You can do it! Thank you Yummy :)

Ah right, the link seems to be gone. Anyway, last posted version is this one, unless i'm mistaken: MEGA link

Mint

hey, knew pledger, i was wondering how i can download the lastest version

It's a Non-Release Update... so basically a blog post. Sorry, there's no Konami Code to get to the downloads, you're just going to have to be patient like the rest of us. It's a 'per major update' fee for a reason, this means updates are going to be slow. Sometimes agonizingly so. Key point is, you don't pay for what you don't get, so assuming Yummy's got bills to pay like 99.9% of the people on the planet, that means devving in his spare time. Sure, it'd be nice if the game came out yesterday, but i like to think i'm more of a realist myself. It's done when it's done.

Why did you hide the update behind a paywall? It seems incredibly sleazy, all things considered.

So, I only just realised I hadn't heard from you in a while YT, though reading the comments, I'm content again.

You should know that there are people out there, who will support you no matter what. You shown us a dream, a game that could easily rival gems like Arms Devicer, and we will wait untill hell freezes over, because we believe.

YummyTiger Gaming

Thanks... I think.

YummyTiger Gaming

First, March is not over. Why are we talking about April. Second, no proof for 3 years? There was a release in August and in December that both had new content. There have been over 20 teaser CGs during the past 3 years. Now, I agree it has not moved forward like it should, but saying there is no proof is disingenuous.

PaddyOFurniture

I've learned to harness the power of my apathy. It will either get done or not get done. If it gets done, awesome. If it doesn't I'll leave the freaking out to the rest of you.

I give him one last chance, if he release nothing for april, i leave. We have no proof of his work and after 3 years i start to think he just laugh at us.

Dumai12

Good grief, I swear some of you would be okay with it if this was still happening in 2030. Yummy is doing anything but rushing this through the door. Any slower and the project would be vaporware (see Dungeons and Prisoners). I'm surprised people are still spouting this nonsense about not paying anything. There is more to the world than money, and it starts to grate when the same thing has been happening for years at a time. Regardless, I do think Yummy will release something substantial this month.

Starfish

Hey YT, just created an account and joined as a 10 $ patreon. Wanted to show my support now, while others are leaving. Played and loved the demo years ago and have been waiting ever since to see more of that elf girl and her lecherous green sidekick. Being a perfectionist myself, I think I understand what you are going through. I am convinced you will deliver quality when you are ready. That's why I pledge. NOT to excert pressure because I "paid" for something. Most of us didn't even pay a cent but still people act as if you'd owe them something. That's just silly in my eyes. I just felt the need to encourage you. Don't rush. Take your time. This should be a work of love. If you quit enjoying what you do and there is only pressure, no one wins. In case of Aylia's Story this would be both sad and unnecessary. Thank you for your efforts, YT - and keep your head up!

YummyTiger Gaming

I don't know. I'd always figured it would go faster, but... All I can say is this whole chapter 1 fiasco has been an almost insurmountable hurdle. It almost feels like if I can get it done, released, and move on, it'll springboard to how this should have been from the start. I created the prologue in a reasonable amount of time, I feel like I should be able to do the same now that I don't have newborn children and I a near full time schedule at my disposal.

YummyTiger Gaming

I mean a release I can run a pledge and move things forward. Not a buggy alpha.

Dumai12

On a different note, I'm curious as to how you're planning progress. Obviously progress can't be as slow as it has been, or the next release will be your first and last real release. Do you have a strong core for the game that will be easy to add on to? Is your skill level at the point where you can quickly put out new content? Or will every new addition be just as hard as this first big release? Sure, I'm curious about this upcoming release, but what's really on my mind is how everything falls into place beyond that point.

Dumai12

The last time we had a "show you what you have" almost everything was in Word/separate files or something, and the game wasn't even being pieced together yet. I dread seeing that again.

Sorry for making a new post but figured it'd make things neater. Not to be a dick but thats not much of a wager if by 'a release' you don't mean .15 given the last release. But regardless the problem for me isn't that you'll never deliver a real release, but that you'll never deliver the next 9 or whatever releases. Even writing off the first half of this project and assuming it's now twice as fast this will still be like a 5 year project. At least for me what will restore faith is how long it takes for the next release to follow.

SpFinX

I'd vote on "release ANYTHING in March, even 95%". Closing Patreon after all this waiting would be.. ruinous at least. Just show us everything you finished this far, and that'll be enough to 1)rekindle hope in positive fans 2)shut up negative 'fans'.

Dumai12

I'd still give it one or two days. But to be semi-fair, the current "half release" is supposed to be much bigger than the original chapter 1 from two years ago. Whether or not that was a good idea is another story. It's completely unlike me say this, but I'm guessing he is skipping the teaser and trying to release 1.4 within the week. Surely if he thought he was within a few days at this point the release can't be too far away. I don't think he is as ignorant of progress as he was 2 years ago....surely...

Christ, over 2 years after Chapter one's imminent release and you can't even get out a teaser for a partial release of half of the chapter. I just don't get how you can be so ignorant of the progress for your own project.

No release?

omgnerdrage

I believe in you YT!

YummyTiger Gaming

0.14 yes, 0.15 no, but that will come after testing 0.14 and hopefully getting the battle stuff done once and for all.

MasterQi

So? Still sure about a 0.14 and 0.15 February release?

YummyTiger Gaming

Very soon, my computer has been down for a little over a week and I've been working on my laptop. I couldn't finish the art component of the battle system until my computer was back, but I was able to keep working on RPG Maker and scripting issues. Was quite a series of events actually, my motherboard simply stopped working. I thought it was the PSU because it seemed odd for the motherboard to simply not power up. Since my old CPU was socket 1150, those motherboards are a bitch to find now. Ended up getting a new i5 and motherboard. Crazy enough, the new motherboard had a "USB over current" error and was bad, so I got ANOTHER new board. That one is finally working and I got everything back up last night. Soo, working on the finishing touches now.

Justjorge

when dat teaser

Good job! Take the time needed and keep moving forward :)

YummyTiger Gaming

Summer is coming.

YummyTiger Gaming

Hold the congrats until the actual release! I'll take it then :-)

omgnerdrage

Congratulations YT!

Dumai12

I'll believe it when I can see it. I still don't expect anything new in 2018 :P. It would be really nice if you could prove me wrong though!

Dasher

Damn, it seems like you're trying to turn this into a Skyrim level open rpg, just in RPG Maker xD

YummyTiger Gaming

Because of Patreon's charging, pledges will run prior to the release. Meaning, when I run a pledge post 0.15, it will be a pledge for the following release. So, you'd be guaranteed access to that release, even if you ended up removing your pledge afterwards. Additionally, I offer a refund of your last pledge, no questions asked (Okay, I will ask why, but I'll grant it regardless). If I were running a pledge for this release, I would have ran it prior so that I knew who successfully gave money for beta access. As it stands, I'm essentially giving everyone who was pledged access, regardless of if they gave money last April or not. If that doesn't make sense, please message me and I will try to explain further. This release is still free and represents the fulfillment of my promise that chapter 1 would be free.

xellos49698

Glad to hear some in-depth specifics about the game. Keep up the good work Yummy-Tiger.

Renmaru

The slowest? You haven't followed many games have you? I've seen games that actually made NEGATIVE progress over at least 7 years... honestly though I could care less how long it takes as long as YT thinks the quality is acceptable I'll be happy with it. Writing off a game, especially by a small group or solo dev because of delays is silly. Therefore your username is very appropriate.

Boyzilla

Nice! Look forward to it!

Derp

I had thought Aylia's Story was abandoned long ago, but it looks like I was wrong... in that case this game has like the slowest development speed ever. :-/ Its so sad, cause game looked so promising.

Nick A.

Lots of stuff to look forward to, very hyped - finally you'll take my money! :D

SpFinX

Yeah, that point about 0.15 pledged update is totally unclear, though i have absolutely nothing about Chapter 1 being pledged. But i can already see alot of people screaming "You said Chapter 1 would be free!!!11".

DaBouncer

I think I'm hyped up there with you, though I did notice something that others may question, and if true possibly be annoyed about. Personally I don't care either way... Because you say 0.15 will be a pledged release, as well as saying "the content in 0.15 will represent the entirety of what I originally envisioned chapter 1 to be years ago" it sounds like 0.15 isn't all of chapter 1, which if true, people'll question if the full release of chapter 1 will also be a full pledge. If I'm correct, or completely mistaken, please clear it up. Thanks, and either way, I can't wait!

YummyTiger Gaming

One last note. The teaser I talked about is coming. I want to have the battle HUD finished and in place so I can post a picture of that. It's taken more time than I want to admit, but when it is done, I'll post a teaser. It's a lot more polished now, but more importantly, I've cleared room so that Aylia's portrait takes center stage.
