Monthly Update

It's the beginning of a new month, so it's time for an update on things. February was unfortunately not a productive month. Between my other work and both my children getting sick twice, I was not left with much time to work on the game. I can't wait to get this rolling to the point where I can treat this as my full time job, but we're not quite there yet.
In terms of the game itself. I'd estimate the release is around 90% done and in the game. There have been a number of hurdles to overcome, which has slowed things down, but we're getting there. I want chapter 1 to be the start of where the game becomes "semi-open" in terms of exploration and quests. This required planning to ensure that as you explore, dialogue and events made sense. Quests needed to be setup to have little dynamic interaction between them, and I had to lock down how battles and enemy respawning would work.
How it's setup is that you are pretty free to move about, but I'm trying to offer little snippets of dialogue between Bogwort and Aylia to indicate that areas will not contain new quest material. So, if you choose to head back to the mines, Bogwort or Aylia will make a comment or two, but you can still do so. I think this upcoming release and the next one will be telling in terms of your feedback on how things are going before we move into the bigger world beyond Zalran.
In terms of good news. Nobody is sick right now, and since my kids had both a respiratory and a stomach bug, I feel like my household should be free of ailments for at least a few weeks. I've been able to step back from my other work and will dig into the game this month. Come hell or high water, I'm going to try and get this release in your hands by the end of March. I mean, look at the state of Bogwort, he NEEDS it!

Well, I had a very productive January, so I was hoping to roll that into February. March is shaping up to be more like January. I'm in the home stretch, just need to bring this home. The next release will take Aylia's Story into uncharted territory!
