I’d say sell it… to me! 😂 I need a new autocross project and always thought the Zs were cool. Otherwise, I’d say keep wrenching… it’s a content MACHINE. And, never forget, the BMW you love the most is the one you let slip away. 😆

I’d sell unless you are ready to document a nut and bolt resto. In which case there are more interesting candidates for that kind of labour. I’ve just made the call the part out my Alfa 166. It’s a similar deal, sunk cost fallacy has me wanting to rebuilt it. But life is finite and the sunk cost fallacy is a real thing.

Wanna install a mobilizer in my bros 99 civic? His was stolen the days before your Rav and he just got it back since the ICBC shops are so slow... He's a good person runs a shelter on the dtes. This is the second time his car been stolen.

also to add, you will definitely experience scope creep with this job. fixing one thing will lead to "I should do this while the subframe is out" without a doubt

I'm dropping the subframe on my z3 currently for a weld-on adjustable camber/toe kit right now. I haven't struggled too much with any of the disassembly but it has been a fairly involved and lengthy process. If you're not married to the car I would probably sell it.

The only way you could save it would be to do a Sreten kind of restoration; but is it worth the work? IMHO no and, as how you have expressed yourself, you also think that it does not worth

I would sell it and get a 135i(preferred) or 128i but I'm bias as I have a 135i

Personally, I would love to see a full(!) disassemble, cleaning, replace the broken parts and then reassemble. With the garage you would have the space to leave the parts lying around.
