Okay, so finishing the camo was overall pretty fun, made me feel like a kid again. To sum it up I'm not happy with how the Ammo paints airbrushed, but I'll give them another chance some other time. I'll try adding drying retarder or thinning them with Vallejo Airbrush Cleaner which works excellent for airbrushing AK and Vallejo paints.
The green spots were painted in 3-5 layers, each being made of more diluted paint to achieve a smooth finish. Unfortunately the finish is so smooth it didn't hide the orange peel left by the dark yellow :D
I also wanted to add some tactical numbers. I tried blue and white, but neither worked with the camouflage.. kinda ruined the stealthy look of the tank.
Everything was sealed in a shit ton of Tamiya Satin Clear and the gun barrels were painted with Tamiya grey color to represent heat resistant primer, as I think those guns would be replaced on a regular basis.
Oh and I also painted the headlight and that weird thing on top of that periscope in a darker yellow tone, as if they were also replaced/added later.
Now it's ready for the most important step, oils and washes, which will make this model "readable" again, as right now it's hard to even see what shape it has :D

Martin for acrylics like Vallejo i usally mix a blend of 2/8 deionised water 3/8 glycerin & 3/8 propylenglycol which work splendid as a retarder(1-2 drops in airbrush cup depending the conditions)

That sounds terrifying tbh. The sticky surface is also gonna trap tons of dust, which is something I've experienced here as well, although I'm very careful to keep the surface clean at all times while airbrushing. I'll experiment with them more in the future.

I've had good luck thinning AMMO paints with Mr Levelling Thinner but they're still a bit finicky. They have this weird property where they get really sticky as they dry, which I think is what causes the orange peel as the half-dried layer justs grab the fresh drops and doesn't let them flow out. I have to make sure each layer is totally dry before spraying the next, I use a hair dryer between coats.
