Quick update
🕑 Added 2020-02-27 13:04:49 +0000 UTCHey mates, just a quick update, started with the oil paints today and I think the results are exactly what the Tiger needed. So far I'm only focusing on the Zimmerit, but I'll finish the rest later during the day.
Just like I expected, wash is not a good idea over Zimmerit, I think oil paints are the way. More precisely, very diluted local washes which are blended further with enamel thinner, you just sort of let it flow into the pattern. I only used a very light green (olive green mixed with white), medium brown and pure white. On the glacis plate I even tried blending white around the chipped edges, but I think I'll leave this step for later when I'm creating the zimm remnants.
And of course, a black brown oil paint around all details protruding from the zimm.
Just wanted to let you know really quick, because I'm quite stoked about the results. I'll report back with more later!

Yeah, most likely. Or the paint was very thick. It's always better to start with less if you're unsure, as you can always add more later.

I tried the oil dots on my Cromwell tonight and it wasn’t as simple as it looks in your videos. I probably used too much paint and ended up with intense streaks covering the original paint. I managed to remove 95% of the oil paint using enamel thinner, and now it sorta kinda resembles the effect you get. A long way before me ...
