And how about a nice ol' box of Hawkins grenades?
🕑 Added 2020-03-22 21:53:49 +0000 UTCHere's a thing I modelled last night and printed today 😁 It's a 1/48 scale British WWII box for anti tank Hawkins grenades. I was thinking about building the Tamiya Crusader next, and I want to add some stowage, and these were pretty common in Africa.
TBH the prints aren't perfect. There are a few issues that are starting to annoy me so I'll be looking more into the printer's settings.
Also, gonna chill for tonight, watch a movie, and probably model a British "flimsy can" which were also a very common (and unpopular) item on them Crusaders...

I tried printing one box at 45 angle and well.. the bottom is straight, but the whole print is slanted, the walls aren't at a 90 degree angle 😄 also, the print lines are very evident and I had to put supports on a few delicate details like the buckles because these would print as "islands". So, I don't see much use in printing at an angle. However tomorrow I'll try printing them slightly turned to one side, but still level with the build plate. I tried hollowing the box from the bottom and it solved the sagging, the downside is obvious - it can be only used in a way when the bottom is completely hidden. Also tried different layer thicknesses... didn't notice any difference between 0.01-0.02 and 0.025

Well I think I got the sagging bottoms figured out. Flimsy can is already modelled, gonna test print a few of them tomorrow! I wouldn't be able to make prints for sale with just one printer, but I have a suspicion that Alex from Solidscale is planning on selling 3D prints. I'll be sending him my models as well. Also, I'm most likely gonna upload all .stl files on Patreon, if it's possible.

As per the above, try angling your prints relative to the build platform and also rotating them. I don't know the specifics of your printer, but with mine, the "curvy bottoms"(!!) are due part peeling away as it is elevated for the next layer to print. Angling the part can reduce the contact area and rotating it can change the way the part peels away from the resin tank. Again, with my printer, I have found that there are certain combinations of parts and angles which will result in considerably worse striations

Very cool. I see what your talking about with the bottom of the box’s being rounded. Once you tweak that they will be awesome. Looking forward to seeing the flimsy cans too. Are you possibly gonna sell any of your prints in the future?
