Wooden fence & other misadventures

So today's update is mainly about the fence and groundwork. I wanted to keep the fence in a natural color because if it was painted white, blue or any other color, there would be "too much" of it, if that makes sense. However when I used the same colors and methods like before, surprise surprise, it was blending in with the groundwork! So as always, when you're in a dire situation, look up references! I ended up adding very light greyish-brown highlights and blackish-brown shadows on the planks, which luckily did the trick, at least I'm now quite satisfied with it. I also added some wire for some extra interest points and that's pretty much as far as that goes. Also the engraved texture wasn't prominent enough so pretty much 90% of the wood grain was painted with a brush. Not the easiest when it's in this amount!
Also the groundwork... I adjusted the tone of the grass a little by spraying some dust color near the road and some dark yellow on most of the tufts to make it less vivid. My original plan was to have very brightly colored grass in order to give the scene that spring time feeling. Not sure if it's the amount of grass or the color I went with, but it was just too much. It's still a bit overwhelming in a few spots, but I'm not going to tinker with it anymore because it makes me feel like I'm stepping around in the same spot... and I'm sure we can all relate that this feeling is not good!
I also tried to make some subtle variety on the road section. I'm still not totally convinced I like it, so I'll maybe go back and do something with it. Don't know what right now though - again, that feeling of being stuck in one place. Aaargh! 😆
Jagdtiger is now being glued to the base with the aid of some textured earth which you can see around its tracks - I'll quickly repaint these spots with enamels once it's all dry. Once all of this is done I'll add the spent shells, fallen tree branches and probably call it a day... maybe something will pop into my mind along the way, but again, don't know right now.

This is also true - regardless of realism I really like having well defined track marks in the ground, but yes, the wood not being pressed into the ground is totally my bad, I would've totally done it if I thought about it from the beginning.

Perhaps not, wide track and a longish base makes for very little ground pressure. Example the skid steer I run has tracks, weighs about 4.5 tons and puts about 7 pounds of pressure on the ground. So over soft dirt or sand I leave around a half inch deep foot print. Now if I pivot it’s a different story all together!
