This first one represents Venus.
Venusian culture has gone off on a very different path to either Earth or Mars. Its people value aesthetic beauty and self-reliance, and have a body language that mystifies those not used to it. As a result, they don't value eye contact or facial expression but hate to have their bodies restricted. As a result, their body armour and equipment tends to be minimal to enable better communication within teams. Most Venusians have lost at least one body part, and their prosthetic technology is highly sophisticated, but only adds to their inhuman mystique.

Venusians certainly *could* have spikey bits. Their society is based on the concept of ascension, in which most of the population lives on (or, more properly) under the planet's rocky surface and lives in constant threat of near-instant death from the planet's volatile atmosphere. But those who are judged to have attained a certain status are permitted to ascend to the floating cities, high up in the atmosphere, from which the planet is actually ruled. The most blessed Venusians are permitted to ascend even higher to the orbital stations and small, but influential space fleet. The exact parameters by which a Venusian earns ascension are hard for outsiders to understand, but it's generally seen as a combination of social service, philosophical study and aesthetic beauty. They have a poor opinion of those who don't follow their ways and the VOM comes to be seen as a cruel, amoral body. It's entirely feasible that a Venusian X Team might belong to a faction that actively promoted sadistic practices against Terrans and other enemies: this would be considered a fringe form of conduct but not beyond the pale.
