Updated Zero Dark Counter Set
🕑 Added 2021-02-02 12:00:00 +0000 UTCI've not forgotten this project and have been trying to find a solution that really works to be able to offer a product to the market for those that want it. And I feel like I'm closing on the solution.
The attached is latest version of the counter set which, in my opinion, should offer all the counters that two players of Zero Dark are likely to ever need for the basic games. They are 13mm circles, arranged so you should be able to print them on standard A4 sticker paper you can put through your printer, like this. However, due warning: I've not been able to get them to accurately align with the stickers, yet, despite using official templates to lat out the distribution. If anyone has any bright suggestions on how to fix this, I'm all ears.
The idea is that, when the printing works, you will stick them to opposite sides of MDF blanks like these. At some point, I'll get some. You'd have on opposite sides:
Wounded (1) and Wounded (2)
Wounded (3) and Wounded (4)
Dead and Prone
Stressed (1) and Stressed (2)
Stunned (1) and Stunned (2)
Support (1) and Support (2)
Dug In and Targeted
Targeted and Overwatch
Dominated and Possessed
Down and Down (or you could leave these one-sided)
So you'd want 108 counters, and one sheet of stickers, which should altogether cost less than £5 - for two people. So £2.50 each if you go in together.
I am considering selling sets, but I'm going to look around for suppliers and, once it all works, will see if I can get higher-quality stickers printed with a nice, smear-resistant gloss finish.

This is exactly what I did, although the default paper size is A4. You may need to play with the scaling on your own printers. Eventually I'll find a professional who can do this on really good quality gloss laminate paper.

One idea you could try is to eliminate the black border and make the circles bigger than the stickers. Basically spread the colours out as much as you can. That way the printer doesn't have to be exactly lined up on the stickers, a couple of mm either way should still get the design inside the sticker and colour all the way to the edge of the sticker.

Trying to get a4 sheets to feed through a printer in a consistent way to print on labels can be really hard. It depends on the printer you have. One printer will print slightly differently than another. So even if you get this working on your printer and send it to me it may not work the same on mine. On some printers it will even come out differently if you print the same page twice in a row with no changes.
