Easy Allies

Hey LEL, like I told Rahul last week, this discussion isn't really a good fit for the general podcast since we can't really get into it without talking about spoilers. And some of us still haven't gotten through it yet. -Bloodworth

Hello there Allies! I love Metroidvanias. Ori, Hollow Knight, Bloodstained, Dead Cells, The Lost Crown, I can't get enough Metroidvania. I will probably enjoy any Metroidvania game you throw at me, but one series in this genre has never worked for me and that's Metroid itself. I hadn't played any Metroid game until several years ago, well after being amazed with modern metroidvanias such as Guacamelee and Rogue Legacy. I was very excited to check out the series that had created this entire genre I now adored. But after getting my hands on Super Metroid, I soon realised that unlike every other Metroidvania, this one wasn't hitting. Perhaps it was a case of getting to a game too late, expectations and all that. Since then I've played and beat most Metroid titles but none of them have really hit the target. Even a modern title like Dread and the jump to 3D with Prime Remastered did little for me. I guess Metroid just isn't for me and thats utterly puzzling because I adore this genre. Anyway, I bring this all up just to ask if there are any genres that you love but dont enjoy the games that are generally considered the pioneers or most popular of said genre. Street Fighter and Fighting games? PUBG and Battle Royals? Is it possible somebody could enjoy platformers but not enjoy Mario? Anyway, hope you're all enjoying Silksong 😉 L&R

Hey Allies, I believe Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 to be a 10 out of 10 masterpiece and is without a doubt one of the top contenders for GOATY this year. The gameplay is addicting; the story is captivating and don't even get me started on the music. That being said, the one thing I didn't like about the game was its endings, and I was glad to hear I wasn't alone in this as Isla said she wasn't a fan either. I would love to hear her take, but to me, the endings came off as being really pretentious. Like they were made to be "thought provoking" just for the sake of being "thought provoking", going so far as ignoring certain story and character arcs to do so. Now these are just my thoughts and opinions, and there are probably those who love the endings, but like Isla, I'm just not one of them. So, my question is: has there ever been an ending you didn't like or agree with, or maybe it just rubbed you the wrong way? Would love to hear your thoughts, and as always, thank you for all you do.
