He was good as new. You would never guess there had ever been anything wrong with him. After seeing other cats that had suffered through similar ordeals, he was one very lucky kitty 😸 and while not the most important thing, it only cost me $90 rather than the thousands the vets had quoted.

There are some crazy theories out there, but I never understood why different ideas and ways of thinking divide. I get that some people have things wrong, but the world would be a better place if we could all just agree to disagree from time to time.

It is fascinating when you get people with formal backgrounds in a discipline who go off on bizarre tangents away from proven, established norms. The YouTube channel Mud Fossil University is absolutely nuts, and the so called geologists that work for AiG are just straight up dishonest in their attempt to legitimise a young earth paradigm. The whole expanding earth thing, I only came across fairly recently, and couldn't believe it. ANOTHER one. Flat earth, hollow earth, young earth, now expanding earth! What the heck is next!?

It’s my first time watching Tim’s live performance of this. I’ve seen the animated version a few times, it’s worth a watch too. His non-verbal expressions in this version do add a whole ton of meaning and sub context here though. It’s probably the better version. Sometimes I like to sneak in a little critical thinking when talking to people with “alternative” views, to see if they’re paying attention, or trip over themselves 🤣 A few years ago, in my previous job, a colleague of mine revealed he was an exponent of the “expanding earth theory”. Now, paradoxically he also had a background in geology! I’m going to butcher this theory somewhat, but to oversimplify, “expanding earth theory” attempts to explain continental drift: the slow migration of the continental land masses over billions of years. It was a seriously considered theory before the plate tectonics theory won over because the evidence supports it! This guy was hell bent, to the extent of fanatic zeal, of writing a book, explaining “expanding earth theory”, dashing the accepted “establishment” plate tectonics theory and blowing the minds of the academic world and wider lay audience. I spent several occasions entertaining his ideas trying to understand how serious he was, and how bizarre his propositions were, in order to explain what plate tectonics theory does with simplicity. As the theory’s name suggests, in order to explain the apparent drift in the land masses, he proposes that the earth was originally all land, much much smaller than it is today, and the earth is, was and always has been - expanding, from the inside. And because it’s expanding, cracks form in the land, water fills the gaps, and over time the gaps get bigger and are filled with oceans, This implies the earth is continually growing in mass, and not just a little bit, by a f*ck ton! So he also has to explain where all this mass is coming from! It flies in the face of planetary formation and other well established cosmological phenomena. The amount of non-controversial theories he has to deny, debunk and provide an alternative explanation for, is mind boggling. It was all consuming with him, he already started writing several chapters of the book. My geology is high school level, so I could only ask questions there, but I posed a few challenging questions on the physics, the solutions to which were to deny current theory and promise an alternative explanation in his book! 🤪 cray cray

This is subject matter that is very complicated for me. I used to believe in all kinds of weird stuff but then critical thinking and logic etc got the better of me. My sister-in-law sounds a bit like Storm, and she thinks that believing in woo-woo stuff makes her open-minded. I would suggest that, refusing to consider the possibility that what she believes is not real, makes her very closed-minded.🤷‍♂️ The one problem I have with this whole subject, that seriously tests my healthy scepticism, is I have experienced what could be described as the 'miraculous' healing of my first cat after he was totalled by a car (there was nothing miraculous about it of course, it was just highly unconventional and falls outside the realm of modern science or medicine). That's too long a story for here, but personally leaves me open at least, to almost any possibility. Geez, another long one. Can't help myself apparently.🤪 Hope you're doing well 🫶
