Iโve heard of the idea many times, and just accepted it as a non-controversial fact. Well wadda ya know! A 1971 paper in Nature just popularized the idea but results were not consistently reproducable! Evolutionarily, females competing for good genes should should *avoid* synchrony, whereas females competing for male time and energy should synchronize. Also, given the different frequencies and durations, the probability of โoverlapโ by chance is already quite common. Yep, TIL ๐ Itโs the kind of โfactโ that you can casually put out there to be controversial for no other reason than to get into an argument ๐คฃ when someone talks about being in sync - oh boy! That is funny. Having seen both Offices I love them both and appreciate that despite the obvious similarities, the Americans made it their own but in an actual funny way (as long as Steve Carell was present).

A great example of the sync up thing is when in a car you have the windshield wipers and the blinkers on at the same time. They each have their own speed, but at some point they will fall in sync for a breif period. (Pun intended) ๐คฃ๐คฃ

Really glad you're liking it! Now that you have some perspective, I think it's worth mentioning that there is an American version of this show that was so bad, it never made a single episode on the air! I bring it up because I think it's somewhat of a miracle that "The Office" has been such a huge success in the US. They captured lightning in a bottle... twice!
