Boys wear the tie ‘short’ basically because they can’t tie a tie but also when it’s under a jumper you can’t actually tell how its tied and most of the time we wore jumpers at school so it doesn’t matter how it looks, you just have to have it on. When you take your jumper off when it warms up during the day it looks dumb but boys don’t actually care.

Oh yeah it's totally like a girls version of the Inbetweeners. The Northern Irish slang and acccent was hard to understand but it's a very funny show.

Subtitles definitely required for that one! I remember finding a glossary online when that came out which covered all the slang, that was also very helpful!

If you want a show to level this out with, i can strongly recommend watching Derry Girls! A crude gang of Catholic school girls in 1980ies northern Ireland, during "the troubles". Its hilarious and outrageous.

Wearing ties in an unconventional way is common in British schools. I wore mine short but with the wide bit tucked in and a small knot. I'm sure it looked ridiculous but didn't feel like it at the time.

I don't remember the tie thing but I do remember you had to carry your rucksack on one shoulder not two. Then you'd go to Europe on a school exchange and everyone there would be using two shoulders and looking about as dorky as Duane Dibbley. 😆

glad we done the ITcrowd first now this , its an excellent show , seen so many reactions to it , while i can somewhat relate as a kid its a little tame in comparison to my life , probably more representative of a average 90s kid though :P still , some things are pretty nostalgic in this show even if its only 16 years ago :P looking forward to more! have a great day Mandy and peeps 🕊️✌️

Excellent! I've been waiting for this. Even though i'm not from Britain, this show is very relatable. The struggle of an average teenage boys quest to find a girl and appear "cool" is quite universal. And since you have brothers, i'm sure you have witnessed closely the goofy behaviour of teenage boys ;D Don't worry about the grossness as i think this episode is the worst it's going to be (outside of the second Inbetweeners movie). And know you get to fully experience Joe Thomas and how he got famous. I like to believe his character Simon and Joe himself are just the same person as the behaviour and mannerisms are almost identical. He was born to do this role and it almost seems he continues to live his life as Simon.

I couldn't resist. I had to watch the second episode now purely because I knew how you would react to the vomit scene. 🤣 You did well. The short tie was a trend in British high schools, it's a normal tie just tied differently. We did the same except we tucked the wide end in and left the narrow end showing. Firstly, how can anyone warn you about the grossness of the Inbetweeners after watching Peep Show? Which is worse, this is has gross as it gets. This was voted the 3rd greatest British sit com of all time because the relatability of what it was like growing up at School. I'm so glad we are finally here. Though I'm still gonna ask about if you are ever going to do only fools and horses and remember before anyone tries to tell you otherwise, only fools and horses was voted on yougov as the greatest comedy of all time by a landslide. However... Yay yay Mandy I've been waiting forever for Inbetweeners. If anyone doesn't like Inbetweeners is because they are middle class and don't relate. All the best Mandy.
