Hahaha! Everyone is misunderstanding the brick thing! I have nothing against bricks per se. I dislike lack of color. I don't like concrete either. But the world lacks color! I also personally do not like the color of bricks, so rather them be colored. But the world is too grey 😔 (and brick colored in some parts 🤭)

I just tried what the History professor absolutely never did (no honestly, never, ever, ever did) and typed 5318008 into the calculator on my phone, but, when I turned it upside down, the screen just rotated and made it the right way up again! It's pretty rare to paint over brickwork in Aus too. Why would you want to cover up all the lovely earthy hues of the bricks!? And anyway, paint is typically used as protective coating for whatever material it happens to be painted on. Bricks don't usually require that. Mmmmm bricks

At 31:15, the figure to me looks like Jeff Vader offering Dickens cake or death, and he turned down the cake. :) When Philomena was at the ballot box, she put a cross on all of the entries and ticked the top one. Then the camera shows a notice saying "Only put an X in one box" or words to that effect. This was great. And you'll notice there's different coloured bricks used to draw little shapes and designs into the work. Sad it was glossed over but then again it's not an actual documentary. Queen Elizabeths funeral in 1901 was probably one of the first major kickstarts for the film and TV broadcast era. Apart from her Jubilee procession in 1897 saw by 3 million people it was one of the first big royal events recorded😌 I know your time is short but I do think some QI episodes or maybe a short documentaries could be fun now and then. I understand if you want to keep the Patreon comedy oriented. Loving Taskmaster reactions too❤️

OK, not funny, but I need to clear something up that one of the interviewees said. Charles Darwin did NOT believe that humans evolved from monkeys. That's something that Christian Apologists say to be misleading. Humans, as well as other great apes, and monkeys, share a COMMON ANCESTOR (sorry for yelling that at you). Monkeys are like cousin species to us. Now, I imagine you don't even remember the bit that I'm correcting, but as it seems to be a quite common misconception, I thought it prudent, just in case.

Thomas was a character from the British TV show Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends which was narrated by Ringo Starr from the popular band The Beatles. Yeah the red bricks are commonly found in England, Belgium, Netherlands, Northern Germany, and Denmark. Those are sort of the Red Brick areas of Europe, all in one sort of corner of Europe. I live in Scotland and there are some but it's not as prominent here as in the North of England in particular. I love playing Geoguessr, that game where you are plonked somewhere on google street view and you have to guess where you are, so red brick buildings are a big clue.

The brick thing seems to come up a lot so I will answer it. It is true that a lot of towns have mostly brick buildings but not everywhere. There are whole towns and cities where the buildings are made from the local stone, or seaside towns which are brightly painted. When brick is used it is often rendered and painted, but because of the weather conditions this won't last long and the maintenance is high. A brick finish just needs repointing every 30 years, so it is mostly practical.
