Firist thing first , I have never seen this show and its looks super funny. Your story about your grandfather reminds me in the opposite direction of my grandfather or Dedushka in Russian. I remember when I got in trouble with my parents and got grounded, my grandfather would get my parents to let me come over to his house. He would buy me ice cream or hot chocolate and take me to a fancy restaurant. telling me how to better handle what ever i did wrong next time. he was an amazing man for sure. He survived the fall of the USSR and managed to come out of it in better shape then before hand. Pretty sure it was your own hair that startled you: scrolling back, your hair slipped off your shoulder milliseconds before you jumped... 😁 I look a lot like my mother - but "looking like" someone does not mean you really look like them - when people say that it just means you have a combination of similar eye shape, nose, mouth shape etc - a familial similarity that you would expect between close relatives (tho, I look nothing like either brother, who both look nothing like our mother - so I like to pretend they were adopted every time they annoy me!)

Hahahaha! A "sound absorbing couch" is not a thing. But, the way sound waves work, there are certain materials that absorb some of the sound. At the moment my living room is quite empty, so my voice bounces around the walls and it causes an echo. The foam and cloth of my couch will help absorb some of those waves, giving my recordings a better sound quality. It is to better my reactions, and sit down on. Nothing more 🤣

Perhaps in the week before each of the episodes you reference, we should make an effort to educate Mandy on the subjects in question. I saw someone react to "The Mainland" once, having never even heard of One Foot in the Grave, and they were noticeably lost. It doesn't always matter, but in most of these cases, I think it does.

Funland is only slightly more crap than my local summer fete, now called "The Egham Royal Show". Used to just be called the Egham show. Still nothing royal about it. If you like the idea of being barely entertained whilst eating damp candyfloss in a damp field, here's this year's offerings: https://eghamroyalshow.org.uk/ Last time I was there (probably circa 1990), you could pay £1 to have your photo taken with Britain's 2nd tallest man (he was about 7'3"), point at Britain's (disappointingly short), 3rd longest stretch limo, and spend the rest of the afternoon looking at locally grown carrots that are unusually long (if you count the two feet of stringy bit on the end). Length was very much a theme. Everything was long, except the queue to get in. The queue to get out was more impressive however.
