Interesting you struggle with verbal instructions. I had the same thing growing up. Sister would ask me to fetch something, I'd walk upstairs and then...gone. which is weird cos psychology reckons most human short term memory is encoded accoustically (in sound). Granted it's only 7 to 30s long on average. There's your fact for the day.
