An example of number 2 on my list of "ways to set up a game company" - a £5m cash injection from a capital venture group. Although, to be fair to SFG, they were a smart group of credible folks who had already proved their chops with Guild Ball.

I literally noticed that after posting the video. Also, turns out there's more of a story to how ToH came to be. Originally, GfN (Graham) developed the game for Warlord to use following their acquisition of the old samurai plastics from Wargames Factory (remember them?). But Warlord decided to pull the project (I think they went too deep getting Seas of Blood and Blood Red Skies to market for an unimpressive return on their investment), handing the whole it and kaboodle back to GfN who basically got handed a boxed set game release for nothing. I don't know if that's entirely true, whether any money changed hands, or what, but it did mean that Graham short-circuited a lot of the logistical hurdles, one way or another. But the mark of a good entrepreneur is being in the right place at the right time and it doesn't look like he squandered the opportunity.

Test Of Honour also made it through 2 Editions so presumably 1st Ed was successful enough to get the funding sorted for 2 Ed?

I guess Steamforged is the current IP spamming monster in the room? I'm frankly amazed they haven't stuffed up that model yet but I guess Kickstarter has helped. I think they would not have been able to do in on sales growth as opposed to FOMO pre-orders?
