Well, truth be told, I'm so glad I had to build just the turret and a slice of the upper hull of this tank. The thing about Panzer IV kits, at least here, is that they're all sold out, and the only one I managed to snatch is from Hobby Boss, a.k.a. re-boxed Tristar.
I clearly remember how modellers in our local community were losing their minds over Tristar kits in the past, saying it's the ultimate kit, with unbeatable detail, true Modelling with capital M, etc. And yes, if someone enjoys cleaning, gluing, and then filling hundreds of parts, sure! But it's not really for me :(((
For example - RFM would make the commander's cupola from 5 parts: the cupola, hatches, handles, and a clear ring of periscopes that slides inside. Tristar made the cupola from 2 halves, each periscope cover is from 2 parts, so that's 12 parts already, each hatch is from 3 parts (hatch, leather padding, and a handle), and surprise, there are no periscopes! I had to make and print very simplified versions of them so there's at least something inside.
A billion pieces aside, this model was cursed for me. Pretty much every part that could be glued wrong, I glued it wrong or used the wrong one. For example, I had to cut off the entire front armor plate because I chose the wrong mantlet. Luckily, there are more parts for different versions in the kit, but it gets so confusing when they're spread across 10 sprues and some look very similar.
Overall I'm just glad to have the tank ready in a somewhat presentable condition. I tried Green Stuff for welds on the turret and it works okay, but I find it way too sticky. All it's missing is a rope that's visible in the photo.
Next up I'm going to construct the rather simple base for this scene, add the figure, and it'll be ready for painting!

We're on the same boat here, haha. Water is fun because it quickly covers a large portion of the diorama and it's just satisfying to work with (once you're not scared of it anymore) :D

Great stuff. Looking for ward to this one man. I get what you saying about complicated/shit loads of parts kits. Its so easy to get burnt out when some companies provide a gazzillion pieces and once built it looks no better than a kit with the same part made from three pieces. I recently built RFM's late pz iv J and it was a blast! Like building a Tamiya kit. I'm loving the water kick your on at present. Its a joy to watch the water being added.

It's the "Honey I Sank the Tank" diorama... very cool subject matter. How deep will the resin be, and will you be able to see the tank hull a bit through the liquid?
