Pin Wash ready!
🕑 Added 2023-08-10 09:24:44 +0000 UTCMy friends, this took a while! But it doesn’t mean it wasn’t enjoyable. The trickiest part, as expected, was the anti-slip surface which acts as a paint sponge. I found out that thicker wash gives more control on this surface (when you pour it into your metal palette and it starts to thicken after an hour or two). Or oil paints would be even better! That’s what I’m gonna do next, add some contrasts with oils and emphasize some panel lines, as well as the air intake mesh.
I used AK Dark Wash for green vehicles which provides enough contrast IMO. The dedicated NATO wash is almost black, and it would probably look unnatural on such a pale camouflage.
Will be back with more contrasts!

Thanks for the feedback! I agree that there are some artistic licenses, in fact, they started the moment I decided to add subtle armor texture to this model. I'll try to keep it all subtle and focus on the earth effects, luckily they get quite dirty during exercises.
Hello Martin, am new here because I was interested in the construction of the PUMA. Follow your work for a very long time and also here shows your perfect craftsmanship. Now to the PUMA and some criticism: at first I found the green too dark, which has now become too light in my opinion. With flawless PinWash the Puma now looks as if it has been in use for 20 years. In reality, there is no such Puma. The vehicles are meticulously maintained. Let's call it artistic freedom. I find that you apply here techniques for WW2 vehicles, which you master perfectly, by the way, which leads to modern vehicles, however, quite worn vehicles. I am curious how it will continue. By the way: The Puma is now combat-ready.

Yea that photo etch really makes a difference in this case. The anti-slip texture also is a detail specific to modern armor. The matts, the unmanned turret and the slat armor. Building WWI to WWII myself, this seems sooooo..... alien to me, but very interesting. Keep going Uncle.
