🕑 Added 2024-01-10 10:11:16 +0000 UTCMy friends, this facade is done. Some of my original plans got changed during the process, but that's just part of the workflow. For example, I decided against those large painted advertisements on the stucco because it felt like the facade would become too cluttered, and I wasn't sure how good they'd look on this darker, decomposed stucco.
I didn't do anything fancy with the glass in the windows either. Just a light misting with flat varnish and a controlled black ink wash. They were intact in the original photo that inspired me, and I thought that not every window has to be smashed or boarded up in some way. At least I could focus more of my attention towards the wall and the wooden details.
This small wall was a huge learning experience and I realized that standard brick walls are actually not that exciting to paint and look at! Also, what takes you just a couple of days to build from scratch still takes a lot of time to paint properly!
Looking at the finished piece, I probably should've kept the red paint only at the bottom of the wall and leave the decorative elements around the doors and windows unpainted. But, you know, it was a part of that learning experience because I wanted to get a hang of this effect, the rest is purely aesthetical feeling.
I also wanted to add a bit of terrain in front of the wall, but sadly, the finished piece wouldn't fit in the picture frame. So if the dimensions of your frame are 14x14 cm, you should make the facade, let's say, 13cm wide and 12 cm tall with an extra 1 cm left for the thickness of the terrain underneath.
In the end, I was equally happy and frustrated with this wall, mainly because it was so small yet it still took many hours to paint. But once I finished it and dry-fitted the piece into the picture frame, I thought "I like it more than the factory" and that's all that matters in the end! :)
I haven't glued it yet into the picture frame because I'm going to take final pictures outside under natural sunlight. Just as last time, luck is on my side because today is the sunniest day we had in a month!
Also, my goal is to have the video finished and ready for early access this Friday, but I'm not making any promises. But I'll do my best!

Hello Night Shift, You make creat things and it looks very nice. I have a quistion, how much mm is the junction box that you use in de upper right conner? I did print it on my 3D printer, but It looks smaller then yours. When I printed it is about 4,5mm, And what scale did you make this?

Dear Uncle Night Shift, When you showed us the bottle of old black ink, a question came to mind...do or have you a new bottle of the same brand? Do you see any difference between the two? Results, formulae? Keep up the amazing work Uncle!
