Tiny sheeps
🕑 Added 2024-02-22 11:09:43 +0000 UTCMy friends, the chipping is done, and despite my initial thoughts it turned into a pretty extensive task! I used a mixture of 4x Rotbraun, 1x German Grey, 2x Drying Retarder and 1x tap water.
We could discuss how extensive the chipping could be on a Sherman, or how the salty ocean climate would affect the paint wear, or how long the field use of this tank was, but hey, I do this technique on every model mainly to make it look more interesting and enhance the battle-worn metal appearance.
I started with the turret because it's a smaller part of the model, but surprise - round shapes don't offer you too many chipping-worthy areas! :D At least it was a good warm-up for the hull, which was much more fun to work with.
I still need to enhance some of the exposed weld beads with shiny metallic paint, and the next step is going to be adding subtle rust effects with oil paints! They're already draining on a piece of cardboard :)

Dude, very disappointed. Just spent ages looking for the tiny sheep but can't see any however the chips on this are fantastic. I get there is a big debate to chip or not but you have hit the sweet spot with this one

Beautiful work as always Uncle. Really looking forward to the diorama. Hopefully some infantry moving up in support and a 'joe' using the phone at the back... Also looking forward to the Warhammer project. Been getting back into that gig over the last 12 months and already did a Spartan using the Uncle Night Shift methods. Definitely got me some 'brownie points' from fellow players/collectors. Do you know the back story of the vehicle you are doing? Having read through some of the black library books the vehicle you chose is a special one it seems.
