After a few hours of airbrushing...
🕑 Added 2024-03-27 15:34:31 +0000 UTCMy friends, the scene is ready for detail painting and enamel washes. This time I experimented with a bunch of different green tones, and I gotta say, if you don't have the basic Flat Green from Tamiya, you're definitely missing out!
I used various combinations of this color with Yellow Green, Buff, and Sky. Even some diluted X-15 Light Green was applied on those tiny weeds made from static grass and Fine Turf.
The ground was simply airbrushed with Buff, just like the pre-dusting on the tank. Bark on the palm trees is a base coat of Flat Earth post-shaded with Deck Tan.
Now I'll probably continue by hitting the groundwork with earth-colored enamel washes and then proceed with the trees!

That already looks super realistic. Yous say you just airbrushed the ground work with buff; does that mean you didn't use a primer and just let the brown tones of the earth textures show through?

Looking good. Love the palm trees with the brown leafs towards the bottom. Not an easy tree to pull off but now I have this sudden craving for coconuts!!

Awesome project! Love to see a “tutorial” on making palm trees. Tried many times and failed miserably. BTW your scale pallets on the Panda project was prayers answered. Great solution for diorama composition issues if you know what I mean. Would very much like to correspond with you on texture as I have a technique that you may find interesting! Anyway your efforts are inspiring and contributing to a small reduction in the “stash”. Best wishes & highest regards to you.

Nailed it yet again sir. Will need to check the paint stash to see if I have flat green LOVE the palm tree color and matt tone. The bottom frond is so perfect! Love the update!
