Time for paints!
🕑 Added 2024-08-16 20:43:52 +0000 UTCMy friends, I’m not saying that every detail in the scene is built, but it’s time to put some paints on what we already have to see the final picture more clearly!
It’s also worth saying that overcluttering the scene might lead to detrimental results. So lwt’s paint these elements and then see if there’s something else that needs to be added 😊

That's an interesting observation! I was also surprised to see the factory floor was made from cobblestones, not concrete blocks (which would be much more pleasant to sculpt and paint!) but I tried to follow the reference images. In them, the cobbled floor seems fine even though they assembled Ferdinands there.

He's from Royal Model. They have very detailed, unusual figures. But the casting on this particular one was gnarly!

That's a great point! I didn't think about that, my concern was the other worker just looking straight at the welding process without goggles, but these were the best thematically appropriate figures I could find for this scene. We'll have to suspend our disbelief big time!

The Ferdinand had a GP of 12-14 PSI, which was considered high for a vehicle at the time. It was why I asked, treads are destructive to road surfaces, even at lighter ground pressure, more a sand paper affect that crushing

No welder though... we've all seen what ammunition brewing up in a tank can do , maybe because I work in a propellant factory I'm being overly cautious.

No, look up ground pressure...the track width and length spreads the weight over their contact area.

I'm liking the scene and composition but I have serious doubts about those 2 shells, they were plausible until you added the welder. Even in the 40's would they be that close? Artistic licence and all that but realistically I doubt it.

Sounds like you have plan. I know that feeling where you have a plan and things all figured out, and disaster strikes. And you have to move things around, add something, throw something out and end up with something different, but more pleasing. Pretty sure your going to be okay.

Wouldn't such a large and heavy vehicle damage a road surface like that? I am no expert but wouldn't bricks/ cobbles get pushed/pulled out of the ground when the tank rolls over it?
