Proof of Life
🕑 Added 2023-05-08 04:08:46 +0000 UTCHi! I'm still here, and I'm still workin' on the Half-Life/1998 Children of Doom video! And as proof here's ~27 minutes of the also-rans.
I'm still finishing up the Half-Life segment itself, as well as a handful of other games that came out in 1998. I'd reckon this is probably a third of what the ultimate runtime of the video will be. I've got about as much written about SiN as I did about Trespasser or Unreal. Thief will probably be a bit shorter just because I did a whole video on the original and I don't want to retread it too much. Starsiege Tribes is a weird one - I'm not sure what I can say about a multiplayer game whose audience has moved on and I can't re-experience the moment of. And then there's Half-Life, which will be pretty substantial onto itself. So yeah - lots of stuff coming! Just gotta keep working.

Thank you for introducing me to the John Hammond Memoir! I was glad to learn about all the games in this video, including trespasser, and that memoir was the cherry on top!

No worries, take your time - love your deeper dives. I think your tiktok video was especially great.

Chris, are you ever likely to cover Obduction or Firmament, the latest offerings from Cyan Worlds, given how much they feel like 0451 games?

Great stuff! It was bizarre seeing footage of Trespasser for the first time, if you squint it's almost indistinguishable from Boneworks with how physics-driven it is.

I am such a sucker for what the Jurassic Park game was trying to do - that was really cool to hear you describe! Kinda reminds me of Receiver in some philosophical ways.

Just in time, I was rewatching your Quake and Duke Nuke ‘Em episode again and wondering when you will upload again. Cool! Always like your work!

I worked on the “SiN” Steam release and it will be interesting to see what you’ve got.
