Son of Sparda

Hey Allies After seeing GamesCom ONL and feeling underwhelmed by it, I was thinking about how publishers wanting to have their own shows instead of coming to these bigger events might be the reason these shows aren't as good anymore. A few weeks ago THQ Nordic had its own showcase for example. Ubisoft is holding an Assassin's Creed event in September. EA is doing it's own EA Play, etc I know on paper this seems like a good idea for the publishers, but I have to wonder if in reality this is hurting some of them more than they may think so. How many people watched THQ Nordic show compared to Gamescom ONL or Summer Game Fest for example? What portion of the general gaming audience will tone in for a dedicated Assassin's Creed Event compared to the massive audience of something like The Game Awards? etc. What are your thoughts on more and more publishers doing smaller dedicated events compared to bringing their games to bigger annual conferences like GamesCom ONL or TGA? Do you prefer these smaller events or would you like to see things go back to how they were? Thank you for picking my question if you do. Cheers.
