Submissions for the 2023 Love & Respect Special

One of these will be our annual Love & Respect episode, which will consist mostly of responding to your contributions. As always, we'll need a lot of submissions, so just like last year, we're opening the gates to all our patrons for this episode.

Love and Respect, Have you ever experienced something like that? It was the year, I don't know, Tomb Raider 2 came out in Germany. I was really excited about Tomb Raider 2 and my mom took me to the electronics store. We went down to the games section and there it was. 20 copies of Tomb Raider 2 waiting to be played. We bought one and went home. I read the back of the massive CD case and the small manual that came with it several times on the way home. Finally, it was time to play the game on my small TV. The legendary PS1 startup sounds roar and Sony Entertainment Europe Presents is shown next. But then nothing happens. Ok, time to reset the PS1 and once again it stops working, the CD drive makes strange noises and my hopes begin to crumble. After several reboots and cleaning the drive with my mom, we decided to go back to the store. A quick call and they told us that they had another copy for us at the info desk. Okay, time to go to the store. My mom, smart as she is, convinces the clerk to let us try the other copy of Tomb Raider 2 at the demo station before we buy it. Okay, good enough, but the game never loads! The same problem we had with the other copy at home. Everyone starts to get confused as to what is going on after the employee has tried 5 different copies. He ended up testing all the disks available and none of them worked on either of the two demo stations. I was devastated and had to wait weeks before they called to tell us that they now had a new batch of Tomb Raider 2 disks and we could come in and try them out. We did, and finally went home with a working copy of my most anticipated game. I have never again heard of such a broken batch of disks. Do you have any insight into what might have happened? I also imagine that Eidos had to destroy all the broken copies. Keep on keeping on Allies!

Hey Allies, Crazy year for games!! With 2023 being one of the most exciting years for video games in recent memory and the game awards officially behind us, it got me thinking of other exciting years. While it’s too early to pit 2023 against other years, I wanted to see which years from the previous decades would win out against each other amongst the Allies, starting with the year I was born . Rank these years from 1-10, using the games provided as well as any other games from those years not listed. If you don’t wanna rank them, that’s cool!
