I have been working far enough ahead that I gave them artwork for the whole issue. In monthly comics, the process for variant covers is often that you work from the script or even just a brief synopsis. Often there will be concept art/an earlier issue to crib from. There were certainly issues of Giant Days where the cover art was done months ahead of my writing the script. I can remember one issue where the cover art led me to modify the tone of the issue to match it better. Once I understood the process, I would try to make it very clear in my synopses what the issue was about.

Sorry if this has been asked before but when you commission these covers do you have the artist read the whole script, give them an executive summary, just ask for a general theme? I'm curious what the process is.
So, so good. I loved the interaction between Clovis and Brian. There's nothing like age old enemies who have known each other for decades and probably have more in common than with people on the own 'sides' :)
