I'm still trying out new inking styles, with a slightly more chaotic feel. Trying to avoid rigidly straight lines to create movement where the line width itself is stiff and fixed. Here's a test comic strip I made last week. I drew it first then made up some speech bubbles to go on top. The Marvel Method!
I think the main thing trying out inking styles like this has taught me is, if I'm not careful with my pencils, they don't work, as this is the impression of chaos rather than actual sloppiness, and requires quite careful control which can only be supplied by the under-drawing. Every skinny line is doing a job and can mess up another's important work.
I'm off to France for a comics festival very shortly so this will likely be my last post until the end of next week.

"Trying to avoid rigidly straight lines to create movement where the line width itself is stiff and fixed." It really works IMHO -- I would never have even noticed the fixed line width if you hadn't mentioned it, and it doesn't feel stiff to me at all.

I like this style a lot. (I also like the residual sparkly in panel 3.) And re. the importance of pencilling, I think I know that feeling from coaching speakers, where what looks like casual spontaneity often requires careful preparation to be effective. Still working on developing the patience to apply that to drawing. :)
