The VR stuff has been tested in June of 2020 already - https://sealled.space/content/uploads/2020/06/360_test.mp4 I wasn't satisfied with the results, but I could probably work on it more when I have the time. As for the side-by-side stereogram, I could maybe do that for the upcoming animation.
An odd suggestion but could you maybe try to make a video with a side-by-side stereogram version so we can watch in VR?

No, there is a significant difference between the 30 and 60 FPS you can check out below: https://sealled.space/content/uploads/2021/02/A36_30FPS.mp4 https://sealled.space/content/uploads/2021/02/A36_60FPS.mp4 It took me a few hours to convert it from 30 to 60, this is not a big cost of time.

That time would be better spent improving rigging and animation, cleaning up deformations to prevent clipping, etc

That high of an fps isnt really at all neccessary, or significantly improving the animations, especially but not only for what that costs you in render time.
