Snus

Thank you.

Viper

It will most likely come out on the 10th.

Sheylyra

Anything new on the next chapter?

HattmanHendrix

Factory Stock combine, reaper of armies. Brought to you by John deer.

HattmanHendrix

Flip a lawn mower upside down and remove all the shielding. Ankle Shanker 9,000tm.

HattmanHendrix

All Modern power tools are a grinder away from being murder weapons. Imagine a guy making armor out of sheet metal, and using a jack hammer as a power spear.

Viper

I'm interested to see what the sneaky snakes will do. I think they will make their move soon.

My read on the "I'll kill him myself" gag was that Cait saw something in Sophia's future that upset her, but nothing requiring immediate action. I figure that if Cait saw anything that threatened Sophia's life, she'd have killed Erf on the spot, regardless of Albin's pleas. Instead, Albin was able to talk her down to observing Erf for 'only' 50 years. So I think it's something humiliating but non-fatal, like losing the battle, failing to stop Bragge's scheme, or some other screw-up that leads to her losing her position as Censor. Or maybe they end up killing Bragge, and the Archomilea family demands restitution, and Sophia stepping down from her station is part of their demands, maybe even sending her home to the sky castle permanently.

The grand chief

Doubt it. Cate wanted him dead solely for the sake of tearing the two apart. If he would save her, it would have been the opposite

Bast

I would like to propose a theory on how the story will go im regards to Sophia. Cate and Albin talked about looking at her in the Flow, and it sounded to me as if she was somehow influenced by Erf. My guess would be, especially to catapult Erf to a higher level of politics, that Sophia is gonna get wounded in a fight with bragged or someone else, and Erf has to heal her with nanites. Wouldn't that be something?

I'm more invested in the tech buildup storyline, as that's my preference, but these battle scenes are quite good too. Rather scary that Erf is pulling this off with repurposed civilian-grade gear. Granted, Navigators probably get access to fancier kit, but likely none of it is expressly built for warfare. An actual Operator with military gear would probably be like an extinction level event, lol. I ignored hair being a potential source of wer(mage) DNA, because I think current tech needs a fresh follicle to get anything useful. But it makes sense that Erf's tech would be able to get viable samples from old braids. Speaking of wer biology, I'm gonna guess that when in melee, Erf is going to be aiming for the Flow organ going forward, huh? At least, that seems to be what he was going for with that gut stab.

The grand chief

I think we can forget about worrying if he is going to become a high priority target or not. Lethal or non lethal aside, he still tore a maniple sized unit apart.

Maniac

I love the way you write battle scenes. It really gets my blood pumping.

Bast

XD Now I want to read that!

Snus

He will comb his hair with it :P

Snus

I actually considered writing down why he intentionally did not but it felt like too much thinking already, slowing the already "face-paced" battle. The sword is made of steel, decent steel, but only steel. A near-monomolecular edge would not just rust but outright burn in the atmosphere. This is the reason why he kept the sword blunt for a while and the scabbard is filled with inert oil to keep the edge. Apart from rust, the edge doesn't last long while "in use" either. He can cleave one or five and then he has to resharpen it or it is back to "good sharp sword" setting. Easier to do while holding a blade yourself, hard to do while blade is spinning elsewhere. And all that is summarised into Erf saying that he wasnt there to slaughter but to win. cleaving people in half causes about as much dread to the enemy unit as paralysis pain and blunt damage. and it might also have additional consequences of being to high of a priority target.

The grand chief

Holy crap, imagine if he stuck his swords at the end of those whips

The grand chief

Which one? The one about him becoming a literal meat grinder or that he was sexually assaulted by lita'af.

Bast

Haha, yeah I can see how that could be annoying as an author... There's still the big "By the way, I am a divine" reveal coming up somewhere down the line, too XD I am still expecting Erf to get that fork he promised Albin. Maybe he can even use it for that discussion. Wether that be for stabbing or not...

Snus

He is too hot (and needs to be cool asap)

Snus

Trust me, Erf knows. He was doing his best to keep OPSEC (partially the reason for him spinning was to hide what was hiding behind his "outer" helmet)

Snus

Albin knows too much, lol. Don't forget that maniples aren't that flexible either - if they are charging it is most likely by order of Sophia herself, not just "aha an opening lets charge multiple maniples!" by some manipular nearby

Yoshiii311

Damn, erf is on fire.

Amelgar

oh no! imagine the rumours that are about to spread now :D

Bast

Thank you for the chapter! I would actually be interested in Albin's perspective on this, maybe spying on the enemy forces or something. Specifically, if this is what he expected Erf was able to do
