Love it!!! What memories!!! The last movie I saw at the drive-in I was dating my husband in the late 70s in Salisbury, MA, and they showed Grease first and then The Shining....what a combo....lol! I remember the old speakers often getting yanked out by cars driving away, forgetting they still had it attached to their window....lol! I believe there is still an operating drive-in theater in Saco, ME.

Remarkably, the drive-in theater I went to as a kid in Illinois is still in operation. I live in California now and the town where I live also has a still-functioning drive-in theater.

It’s very cool to still see one of these Drive In’s still standing, there’s not many left. There’s actually one right behind my house and at night I used to be able to see what was playing. However, it shut down at the beginning of the pandemic and has been closed ever since. It’s the last one standing my my state, and I’m not sure for how long. The city council wants to reclaim the land and have it torn down so Amazon can build a distribution center😕. I’ve never actually been to a drive in (in a car), so at this point I regret not going at least once to experience it they way my folks did when they were kids….

Covid and most likely streaming services probably caused the closure of the Hoyt's Cinema in Linthicum. it is sad that the drive ins and movie theaters are becoming a thing of the past.
