Yeah I think that's the main issue... I'm not sure what caused that itself if it was the tone being "forced into the holy city" or maybe the way everyone dismissed him? It might also be the way Nova was talking about it like "Yeah of course we could always just flee and let the city be destroyed the only thing stopping me is that as long as I have the ability to save so many people I feel I must at least try". It feels like the characters aren't actually invested like for Nova at least it started as "fine I'll go meet your Signus so you finally get off my ass" (there was still suspense though until the Signus meeting because the Potential not letting them leave is course!) and after it was "let's quickly get the rift solved so we can go back the church is something we either destroy or reshape later when we have much much more power anyway". I feel like when the main character basically was never invested in "what happens to the church beyond us getting away" it's hard to then as the reader care about those things beyond the rewards he gets I guess? (Those are just guesses though become as you said the clichees aren't the reason I wrote this more of an excuse. You summed it up very well "why do I view this arc as a too bloated side quest?". I would absolutely read 20 more chapters of this "side quest" before quitting the story though ☺️).

Well, that acceptable. Some of those are impossible to avoid unless I want the story to be over in a few hundred chapters (mostly the rewards being either too strong or missed out on). I still think it can surprise you in a few ways, though :) And the other super talented person showing up in the place where all the super talents gather feels like a better explanation than random happenstance. But I am sad you think of it as a side quest essentially. I might need to find a way to correct that for other readers in the future...

The arc itself was very original. Clichees is more like "evil good church", "powerhungry officials and intrigue", a "crisis ONLY the MC can solve"... "Powerful Pope/Signus figure for no apparent reason doesn't do anything at all", "despite risking his life and archiving something essentially impossible he won't get even the small rewards promised to him", "rewards for achieving the impossible are extremely valuable but also so strong, rare and corrupted of course it will probably take a lot of time before it gets useful"... "We go onto a random trip and the probably most powerful/knowledgeable person besides nova appears and is am old friend is his who against infinitismysmall odds meets then there and recognises him". I'm not saying this arc or the Tropes and clishees used are bad because you did as you said combine it with great ideas into very original things... I'm mostly just kind of exhaust from this arc. As I said we have spend just about 20 chapters here and in story time that was only 2-days I think right? If the end result is them not contacting the holy city for the next 20 years anyway it feels a bit too much or too dense. Especially if we go into another half dozen chapter eldritch void mins fuckery mini arc (as I may have completely misinterpreted from the ending lines of this chapter lol). I just mostly am really waiting for the return to Collport and for the hole kingdom and child saving it to continue. Not actually hating this plot or finding it boring.

Clichees? :( I thought I was being kind of original...

Thanks for the chapter! Though honestly this smells like more void corruption nonsense from the voidling heart maybe? I'm not sure if this is that but if it is please keep it short... This Arc already feels pretty long for something that kind of appeared out of loft field... It was just supposed to be getting Millie out and now we had what 30 chapters describing only 4 days filled chick full of action, politics and clichees lol.
