a little over a year ago, jesse and i put out a duet called "when the smoke clears," and today we are releasing a special new acoustic version! this song holds a verrrrry special place in our hearts. it was born out of the depths of our infertility struggle, and to get to release this version a year later, half-way through a viable pregnancy, is pretty incredible for us. also, we had so much fun in the studio together layering gazillions of guitars for this new version :)

i think a lot about scars. i think a lot about scars these days, and that's what i think of when the iconic guitar from the original version peeks in here and there here. i think about how even when the astonishing healing power of our bodies is exhausted they can find a way to stitch tissue however clumsily with something else and hold together, and hold on still wishing you the very best!!! <3 <3
