It looks like a helmet, alright. Made of maple leaves? The tiny bits look like maple leaves to me. An artifact to remember a victory over the knife-ears, maybe? A tribute to the legendary King Cacame the Immortal Onslaught? The product of a bored dwarf? Who knows.
