Style Notes: Impid Fashion
🕑 Added 2023-03-06 20:08:40 +0000 UTCSo, I love this book called Cool by Greg Foley and Andrew Luecke. Basically it talks about 20th century counterculture globally, and the subgroups that formed in protest to the various systems at play. Anyway, it's great, and it breaks all of the subcultures into pages like this, which I shamelessly stole the template for to make this.
In my mind, Impid fashion would largely follow similar trends to that of South African tribes due to similar climates. I wanted to blend in a little North African fabric flowiness as well, to emphasize the speed that is a key part of impid genotypes and to give it a bit more of a blended, unique aesthetic rather than just copying one real-world tribal aesthetic.
I love the idea of vibrant patterns and intricate designs being a staple of expression and pride for impid fashion (as they should!), so I wanted to keep that going throughout the different eras of fashion. Similar for their horns (which I imagine other xenotypes don't really consider when designing clothing), I wanted that to be a pointed focus of headgear design.
All in all, I'm pretty pleased with how these turned out (although the YttakinxImpid scruff is hilarious to me - I guess they always smell of burnt beard hair?). My favorite design is the industrial, though.

Iโm glad! That one was tricky for me because I didnโt want to directly copy one tribeโs aesthetic. I do love the halter top, tho, and I definitely took heavy inspiration from Breath of the Wild for the veil.
