Ouch! Why I (usually) wear gloves

There are several reasons: Avoid small pinches, avoid nickel allergy, avoid cuts or splinters from tools handled near the magnet and even a slightly better chance of getting fingers unstuck in the event of an accident.
During the filming of the upcoming February video, I managed to disregard the gloves in my eager to quickly test a hunch. And of course I got pinched...
Not a big accident, but a clear reminder that gloves do work for avoiding the small, painful pinches. The gloves would have taken the last, worst part of the pinch in this case - not my skin :´(
The public video will be released Friday, February 26th. Can a kitchen scale be used to measure the strength or even grade of a magnet?

Yep, they are no joke. The featured 70x20mm are more than enough for getting hurt. My biggest ones will do some serious damage, if not treated carefully.

I have a 1.5" diameter magnet to play with, and that thing worries me. I'd be terrified to try to use those things you carry around.
Yep, I try to avoid them and will be even more careful in the future. In this case I got fooled by the low reading on the scale. The actual pull force is much higher, since it takes way more than 2 kg to pull the magnet off of the scale again. I think the reading on the scale is a combination of the weight of the magnet and attraction to the battery etc. under the weighing plate. But the attraction to the weighing plate itself is way higher. Enough to pinch me to internal bleeding. Painful experiences are the one you remember the best ;(
Pinches are the worst. So much pain for a little tiny mark. Glad it wasn’t worse, just be careful.
I can only imagine how many pinch risks a mechanic faces everyday... I think the forehead and finger tips are the most sensitive to pain, though the lips have the most touch sensitive receptors. This one didn't feel that bad initially - it just kept on stinging for long :)

As a mechanic, I can relate... I've pinched skin on more places than just my fingers over the years... hurts like hell...
