Mystery of the Demagnetizer | What's inside it? How does it work?
🕑 Added 2021-09-26 17:48:00 +0000 UTCI honestly did not know how the magnetizer/demagnetizer tool worked before starting on this video. The online answers I could find were vague (or just wrong) in explaining how it works.
So I had to do my own investigation and why not document it on video. I show some basic tests and some advanced 3D teslameter measurements. I then open the tool and finally figure it all out through a rendering in the FEMM program.
The animations in this video were unusually tedious for an amateur like me to make - but so worth it. Helped me realize how it works. And hopefully help you see it too.
I even end up showing how the tool is not needed if you just have a bar magnet!

You're welcome! And yes, it is rather annoying. What the video doesn't show is how much I measured all around in the demagnetizer opening. I was looking for the 'irregular' magnetic field that so many websites claim the steps will make x) I was hoping to find some oddly shaped magnets or pole pieces made of iron inside the steps...
